Oceanfront two ways

  Hello, welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. If this is your first time here, thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. If you're a returning visitor, thank you so much for supporting me! 😍

This week's cards both started with the lovely, tranquil Oceanfront stamp set but they are both very different. Here they are side by side...

I love how they turned out & also love how the one stamp set can be used with other stamps & dies to give totally different looks.

The first card is similar to others I have made but this time I wanted more of an evening feel to the card rather than a sunny day time. I used both the Oceanfront & Waves of Inspiration stamp sets so that I could have the cute pelican as a feature. The colours used for the sky & sea are Boho Blue & Lost Lagoon. For the sand I wanted a more textured look & a bigger area of sand so I used a water painter & Crumb Cake. The silhouette features are all stamped in Early Espresso. There are a few little pebbles, courtesy of the Pebbles Enamel shapes & the matte is Rings of Love. Both of these layers were then added to a Misty Moonlight base.

The second card is a lot brighter! I started with some Basic White & stamped the 'sky' stamp in Lemon Lime Twist & the 'sea' stamp in Crushed Curry. I blended around these two areas with the same colours & diecut an aperture with the Sea dies. To create the look of an ocean background I used a matte of By the Bay DSP, stamping a jellyfish in Pebbled Path, some fish in  Terracotta Tile & sea grasses from Oceanfront in Shaded Spruce & Mossy Meadow. This was then adhered behind the opening.
The base for this card is also Misty Moonlight but I chose Pebbled Path to back the sentiment which was stamped on some of the new Bright & Beautiful DSP using Pebbled Path. It was fussy cut before being raised slightly on double glue dots.
The final step was to add some 'bubbles' which are some plain Polished Dots.

Two totally different cards made with the same stamp set as it's base. Cool huh?

Well, that's it for this week's cards, I hope you enjoyed them. My next blog is on Wednesday & is a Card Sketch! I haven't done one in quite a while & thought it was high time to do it again! Next week's blog is for the kids or young at heart. There is a brand new bundle called Carousel Horses & is so cute! There are so many ways to use this set & I can't wait to show you. I hope you can join me for both of them.
Before I leave you though, I have another card to share with you from the Online Stamping Retreat earlier this year. It's a WOW card designed by Kylie Bertucci & is reserved for special occasions. It is called a Slide Flip card.....

From the front it looks like a pretty regular card....

There's a flap to show you the inside of the card, still looks like a regular card. Then....

there's a ribbon pull tab that opens to reveal a second card area....

that has space for writing as well! How cool is that!

Now it's time to say goodbye. My regular format for this blog has changed slightly as there are many things going on with my family & time seems to slip away. My apologies for not providing links to the products used. If you would like to purchase any items from Stampin' Up® from my shop you can simply log into their website & select me, Alison Culliver, from the 'find a demonstrator' section.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
