Earthen Textures creations

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

This week's blog uses a beautiful collection of products from the annual catalogue. The focus suite is Earthen Elegance & I use most of the suite, namely the Earthen Textures stamps & dies as well as the DSP & co-ordinating ribbon in one of the featured colours, Pecan Pie. I loved creating with this set & hope you love them too.
I created them at my monthly card group get together as we chatted & shared ideas & stories. I think they're great for males but also for the ladies who aren't into lots of flowers or girly colours. Here's what I came up with...

I used mostly current products but added in some retired bling that is the same colour.

For my first card I started with a Pecan Pie card base, added a DSP matte the stamped Pecan Pie branches in a circular pattern on a Pecan Pie matte & adhered the 2 mattes to the card base.
For the vases & urns I diecut a small & large urn from DSP & stamped in Pebbled Path on Very Vanilla to create the smaller jug. I topped that with a Pretty Peacock diecut.
Next I diecut the patterned detail from DSP & placed it behind the vases, layering them by raising one on some glue dots & the front one on dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze directly onto the card base. The finishing touches were a Pecan Pie Bordered Ribbon bow & some Brushed Metallic dots.

The second card was easy with just some DSP, stamping & diecutting plus one little bit of fussy cutting for the sentiment.

The base is Copper Clay with a matte of the stunning Earthen Textures DSP. It's such a beautiful design that you don't need to add much to it. I simply stamped 2 vases in Saddle Brown Stazon & Pretty Peacock & diecut them plus one set of Very Vanilla handles. The ferns & leaves are in Very Vanilla, Pecan Pie & Pretty Peacock. The die for the large fan leaf also scores the centre of each leaf so all you need to do to achieve the same 3D effect as in the pic is to use a bone folder to gently curl each side.

The final card required no stamping at all except the sentiment. Pretty Peacock base, crosshatch patterned DSP & vases diecut from more DSP are the main features of the card. Fronds are in Gray Granite & the cross/lattice detailing was diecut in Pecan Pie. Now I have to own up to using some leftovers for this card as the sentiment, which is stamped in Saddle Brown Stazon is actually a piece left over from a fishing themed card I made last year. The Gone Fishing dies have a die that makes the tray shape of a fishing tackle box & of course you end up with all of these little shapes where the windows are. So, I upcycled one of them for the sentiment! All that was needed then were a few Cork Rounds & the card was complete.

These cards were so easy to make while chatting with other crafters & I love how they've turned out. If you have the set & make any then I would love it if you posted a pic on my Facebook page at craftedbyalison. If you don't have any of these products but would like to purchase them then you can follow the links at the end of my blog.
