Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Today I am sharing a way to use DSP as a main focus in a card. I have created 2 cards with DSP in an accordian fold. If you have an abundance of DSP (like me!) & want a good way of using it up, this is the fold for you!
These two cards have a standard sized base but it's only a single piece rather than a double piece scored in half. I'll start with the portrait card first.
Early Espresso starts off this card. To this base is added a piece of Country Woods DSP measuring 14.45cm by 30.5cm, nearly half a sheet. It is scored at 10cm, 18.5cm & 24.5cm. The large section is then adhered to the base & each score line is folded & reinforced. On the last fold I adhered the two sections together so that there are now three sections.
The first section, the front panel has a Pecan Pie matte die cut with the Everyday Details dies. A fussy cut bird from Nests of Winter is added with a Basic Beige ribbon as accent behind it. A few Adhesive Backed Swirl dots were the final touch.
Behind the front panel is a hidden message! To create this secret area I cut the same circle for the front in Basic Beige. The sentiment & image are from Country Birdhouse. Another Basic Beige circle is then added to the inside of the card with some berries for accent.
The second card is cut to create a landscape card. It has a Night of Navy base & uses a different pattern of the Nests of Winter DSP. This time though the scoring is at 14.45cm, 21.5cm & 26.5cm.
I followed the same procedure for this card, adhering the last two folds together.
The front panel has two mattes, one Night of Navy, the other Petal Pink. Another of the birds from Nests of Winter is added to the front along with a sentiment & accent image from Country Flowers.
Hidden inside is another set of mattes, Night of Navy & Basic White this time, with some more accent stamps. The card is finished with some more of the Swirl Dots.
I think these cards look really good but as you can see, they're really quite easy to create & can be personalised for any occasion using whatever supplies you have on hand.
That's all I have for you this week. I hope you have enjoyed this post. My next post will be on Sunday. I will be stepping out of my usual realm of cards & gifting to create a scrapbook page using some of the supplies Stampin' Up® now has for sale from Close To My Heart.
Next weeks mid week blog will be a colour challenge.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
