Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Today I have two pretty cards made with scraps from other projects. Using up scraps is a great way to explore your creative side & helps you to think outside of the box when it comes to card design.
Here are the cards...
Made from these scraps...
I'll start with the small floral pieces at the bottom of the picture.
I started with three small scraps of Florals in Bloom DSP & selected some co-ordinating cardstock - Cherry Cobbler, Timid Tiger & Rich Razzleberry - as backing for each piece.
On a Basic White card base I added a Basic White matte, embossed with the Plaster Painting embossing folder.
The three DSP mattes were staggered & the top left & bottom right were raised on dimensionals while the centre matte was adhered directly to the base.
The sentiment, from Beautiful Butterflies, is stamped in Rich Razzleberry & heat embossed with clear powder. Dimensionals were added to the centre of the sentiment & liquid glue to the ends so that it sat at the same height as the raised DSP.
Some 2024-26 In Colour Shimmer gems were added to finish it off. A quick & easy card.
The second card is similar in that it has a Basic White base with a Basic White matte, embossed this time with the Dashing Designs folder, but there is no matting of the DSP. Instead I used a thin strip from top to bottom plus the reverse side of one of the squares. I fussy cut a bloom from a separate piece & adhered it to the square, curling the edges slightly & adding some mini glue dots to the leaves for added dimension.
The sentiment, also from Beautiful Butterflies is heat embossed in white on Pecan Pie & adhered to the back of the DSP. They were then raised on dimensionals & added to the base with a few 2024-26 In Colour Resin dots finishing off the card.
And that's how easy it is to create lovely cards using scraps. I love using leftovers & scraps & hope you enjoyed seeing my creations.
My next blog is on Sunday & I have a beautiful new stamp set to share with you from the Kintsugi Inpirations suite, it is based on the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold welding. This is a beautiful suite of products & will be featured in a number of my next blogs.
In next week's mid week blog I will be using the embossing folder from that suite.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
