Mid week blog#133 - Triple Point card
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
This week I am sharing a fun fold with a difference. I love fun folds, learning how to make them, sharing them with you & sending them to a new home. A simple twist, turn, fold, or score can transform a simple card into something special. This week the fun fold is called a Triple Point card as there are 3 points to the card front. I hope you enjoy my creation.
Here is the finished card...
I chose Night of Navy cardstock with Basic White for some of the matting. The DSP is Mediterranean Blooms with the lemons. I originally chose the oranges but once I started creating I felt that the lemons were calling me more. 😁
The base measures 29.6cm x 14.8cm & scored in half.
The Basic White matte for the front of the card & the two triangle points measures 14.4cm x 14.4cm.
The DSP measures 14cm x 14cm.
There is also a Night of Navy matte for the inside that measures 14.4cm x 14.4cm and a DSP layer that measures 14cm x 14cm.
Here are the supplies, cut, ready to be assembled...
To create the triangular points I measured the bottom front of each piece at the half way point & marked it with a greylead pencil. So, the front cover is marked at 7.4cm, the Basic White matte is marked at 7.2cm and the DSP is marked at 7cm.
For the inside matte, the cardstock is marked at 7.2cm & the DSP is marked at 7cm.
Next, you place the cardstock diagonally on the cutting line of your trimmer & cut from the score line on the right down to the pencil mark in the centre then repeat on the left hand side. The cut pieces are used for the triangular points.
The square piece of DSP is adhered to the inside of the card & the Night of Navy & Basic White mattes, which have been trimmed that same way as the front, are adhered to the base so that they 'disappear' under the front flap.
Once you have the base completed it's time to add the front points & decorations.
To align the points correctly, place them in the position you like then adhere the top most piece to the second piece. Once they are dry, adhere them to the front flap with dimensionals, ensuring that none of the dimensionals are in areas that will hang over the triangle.
For the final decoration, I fussy cut a lemon with leaves & flowers then added it to a Stylish Shapes, Basic White circle which had Garden Green blended for a background accent. As the image is raised on dimensionals the blending shows up a little more.
