Hello & welcome.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.
For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
Today I am sharing some beautiful alternative cards made with one of Stampin' Up®s kits called Beautiful Blues. This kit was featured in last Sunday's blog. Blue is my favourite colour & this kit & these cards are stunning. My inspiration for these cards comes from Rachel Tessman who is super creative & has loads of videos about alternatives for Stampin' Up®'s regular kits as well as the Paper Pumpkin kits that are available in America. Here are nine alternatives I was able to make with the supplies from the kit. I would also like to say that these were made after 1 set of cards was already made as per the instructions & these nine cards only included a few extra materials including retired bling from my stash - a great opportunity to use up my supplies.
I'll give you a quick run down on how these cards were created starting with the cards in the back row then working my way down to the card in the front...
The first two cards were made by cutting one of the kit cards down into two small cards then adding them to a piece of Night of Navy measuring 10.5cm x 14.85cm which has a few images stamped in the same ink. These two images show the closed card as well as the open card.
One card has a sentiment stamped onto a label, the other has the sentiment stamped directly onto the front. The embellishments are from the 2022-24 In Colour Pearls.
This unique card is created with two flaps from the envelopes! There's a little stamping on the flaps then a sentiment stamped onto a label, some pearls & it's done!
These next two are like mirror images. They both have a Night of Navy base & one of the floral shadow frames. The card on the left has a white matte behind the blue frame & the card on the right has the frame reversed to show the white back side. Some pearls & a sentiment from Beautiful Butterflies for the right card & they are done.
For my sixth & seventh cards I cut one of the card bases into two mattes for some more Night of Navy bases. The card above has some shadow floral sprays, a heat embossed sentiment on a strip from the same card base & a few 2022-24 In Colour matte dots.
The following card uses the other half of the card base with a floral spray adhered over a sentiment stamped on Basic White & matted with some Night of Navy. The embellishments are from the kit.
So that brings me to my final two cards.
Both of these were made in the same way as the previous two, using one card base cut to fit a Night of Navy base but these two already have the images on theme so all they needed were a sentiment & some bling which are Festive Pearls.
Well, that's if for my creations. I hope you've enjoyed looking at how to stretch a kit to make loads of lovely cards. Now it's time to share some news & information from Stampin' Up®.
Stampin' Up® 's Annual Catalogue was released last year with a very different format & it was a beauty! It was set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a
step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is
quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is
create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself &
create your way! In the
quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. I explored this in a bit more detail in my
1/1/25 mid week blog & also in
30th April blog. The other cool feature is that they provide card sketch ideas for you. This is great for any times that you need a little inspiration.
If you'd like to browse the new catalogue online then click
here. If you'd like a copy to hold in your hands, leaf through & put little notes all over it of what's on your wish list then shoot me an email at craftedbyalison@gmail.com or message me on my facebook page at craftedbyalison.
The mini catalogue was launched on January 7th and has now retired so there is only the Annual catalogue & the Online Exclusives until the next Mini catalogue is launched in September.
Stampin' Up® also have loads of additional products available only online. These are called Online exclusives & have no end date, when the stock is sold out, that's the end of it.
Stampin' Up® have a great range of Kits including crafting, card making & gift giving. There were brand new kits added to the collection every month. Click here to check them all out in my online shop. As Stampin' Up® have so many beautiful kits available I feature a different kit in each blog so that you can see the range. This week's featured kit is called Birthday Fancy kit. It is a very pretty kit reminiscent of high teas & vintage vibes that includes stamps, a block & ink spot plus gorgeous gold printed envelopes & foil accents to include on your cards.
Here's how Stampin' Up® describe it...
Serve up a slice of celebration with the Birthday Fancy Kit! With layered cakes, teacups, florals, and doily details in soft pastels, these 12 cards (4 each of 3 designs) are like a birthday party in an envelope. Whether you’re crafting for birthdays or other sweet occasions, each design makes it easy to create something charming and full of cheer.
Aren't they adorable?? If you feel that you need to add this to your list then click here to purchase one from my online store.
If you
shop with me then there are some new changes to the rewards program that you should know about. In the past we were able to create a host code & group together individual orders & pass on the 'hostess' benefits to customers with qualifying orders. This has now been replaced with a 'Rewards' program that gives
all customers who place an order with a
qualifying amount a credit of 10% of their order to use on future orders. This will be displayed during the checkout process or your order. Stampin' Up® feel that this is a fairer way of rewarding all customers.
Lastly, there have been lots of great items added to the clearance rack which is now called
Last Chance items so make sure you check them out using
this link to my online store.
If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.
I hope you've enjoyed today's post. I really enjoyed creating alternative options with this kit, they're always so fun & easy to use & it's great to be able to use an inexpensive kit to create way more cards than intended.
That's all I have for you this week. My next blog is on Wednesday & I will be sharing tips on how to use scraps in your projects & creations.
In my next Sunday blog I am excited to share a gorgeous new suite called Kintsugi Inspirations. It features the Japanese art of mending broken pottery using gold & is simply stunning! It will feature a few times over the next few weeks as there is so much in the suite.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Well, that's it for another week. I hope you enjoyed this post & come back for more.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison.
