Midweek blog #194 - Using the Everyday Arches dies to create a unique shaped card

 Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. Today I am showcasing a great set of dies called Everyday Arches. I had originally planned to share how to use the stamping off technique to create different colourways with the same ink pad but life & Christmas preparations got in the way & I have swapped the two themes around. 

There are 10 different sized arches in the set & they are so versatile. I have made one card this week, a tri-panel arched card that showcases the arch itself as a feature shape of the card but there are so many ways to use the arches - as the background for a special stamped image, to add sentiments, as a frame, to create a rainbow or to cut the actual shape of a card, the list is quite extensive.

Here is my creation...

I started with strip of Misty Moonlight from my stash, measuring roughly 6.5cm x 29.7cm & scored it in thirds (9.9cm, 19.8cm), folded & burnished in a mountain, valley, mountain formation.

I diecut 3 Timid Tiger arches then 3 Basic White arches one size smaller then got out my Painterly Pears DSP to decorate each panel.

I used one piece that already had a partial image on it & stamped 'have a' from Sweet Blooms directly onto the blank are and stamped 'lovely' on Basic White & fussy cut it out. Both are stamped in Night of Navy.

I added some dimensionals, trimmed to fit the letters & added it to the card front then to the first of the panels. I aligned it to to first fold of the base & adhered with liquid glue.

The second & third panels were decorated with pieces I had fussy cut for previous projects but not used. I also stamped 'birthday' on the middle panel to finish off the greeting.


There are only a few small pieces of foliage & flowers on the third panel to allow plenty of room for writing.

To finish, I added some 2025-27 In Colour flat pearls to the first & second panels


I was careful to apply liquid glue only to the area that would cover the Misty Moonlight base & folded the card when adding the centre & last panels so that they aligned perfectly behind the front panel.
The card stands nicely on it's own as the base is flat.

So that's it for this post. A quick one as there are lots of other jobs needing my attention. Christmas is at my house this year & the house still needs a little TLC to have it ready & there are presents to wrap, recipes to organise, gifts to cook....... You are probably right in the middle of the same issues!
