Mid week blog #170 - Funfold with an aviation theme
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Today I have created a cute funfold which is perfect for the male in your life or for those who love old planes. There are two versions as I was making this card for a swap & wanted to see two different colour variations.
In this picture are the 4 cards I created. Three have silver wings & engine made with retired Silver Foil specialty foil & one has Copper Clay wings & engine. I decided after making both versions that the silver version was the one for the swap but I really like the brown version as I think it is more true to reality.
Here are the details of how it was made...
1. Start with a regular A5 card base - 14.85cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm - I chose Copper Clay.
2. Add a 14.35cm x 10cm piece of DSP - I chose Take to the Sky.
3. The funfold part of the card is a pocket on the front of the card that measures 20cm x 13.35cm in the same colour cardstock. There are 2 score lines at 9.5cm & 19cm, leaving a 1cm section to fold behind. Before folding it over though, you measure 6cm down from the right hand side (where the last score line is then turn it & cut diagonally from the first score line down to the mark.
4. Apply glue to the flap as well as a small amount to the bottom so that the pocket is sealed.
5. Next, cut a 12.8 x 9cm piece of co-ordinating DSP & repeat the diagonal cut process, marking the DSP at 5cm instead & apply to the front of the pocket.
