Midweek blog #143 - Colour Challenge!!

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Every month, Stampin' Up® post a selection of colours to inspire you to create. There are lots of other colour challenge groups as well but I have chosen to use the selection from Stampin' Up® and here are the colours they have chosen...

With these three colours I have created the following card...

The base is Poppy Parade with a Bubble Bath matte & a Basic White matte for the image.
The mattes were diecut with the Deckled Rectangles dies & placed off centre for a little quirky detail.
The cake images are stamped in Poppy Parade & Lemon Lolly, the cake stand is stamped in Old Olive, the leaves are Old Olive & Granny Apple Green & the flowers are stamped in Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath & Poppy Parade. I used a Black marker to add some centres to the flowers. The flowers, leaves & cake stand are diecut with Cake Celebrations dies but the cake itself was fussy cut as I stamped the creamy centre piece in two parts & the die was not suitable once I had created it.
With all of the images now cut, it was time to assemble the cake. A little liquid holds the layers together & as they are different levels I added glue dots as well to the cake, leaves & flowers.
To add some extra dimension I stamped a couple of images directly onto the white matte as well as the sentiment.
The final touch are some Matte Black dots from my stash.
Here is a closeup of the front details...

If you have visited my blog before you will know that I like to decorate the inside of my cards as well as the envelope. I don't always include a picture in my posts but decided to include the envelope this time.

Colour challenges are quick & easy ways to inspire some creativity or inspire something different.
So, that's it for another mid week blog. I hope you've enjoyed this creation, based on the Stampin' Up® monthly colour challenge.
My next blog is on Sunday & I will have 2 more double page layouts from the Gnomes for Summer scrapbooking kit. The first layout was in my 1st December 2024 blog.
In next week's mid week blog I will be sharing how to make some quick & easy shaker cards.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can come back to see what I have in store in the next two blogs.

Til next time, take care & keep creating!
XX Alison
