Midweek blog #137 - Quick & Easy 5 min funfold Christmas card

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

If you have visited my blog before you know that I love a good funfold! Today I hope to entice you into creating your own funfold cards with one of the easiest I've ever made. I'll take you through it step by step so you can see how easy it was.

This card has very simple materials which helps with making it a super quick card.

I started with the base, some DSP, ephemera, contrasting cardstock scraps & some dies.

To create the base I used a standard piece of 21cm x 14.85cm Shaded Spruce cardstock. This was then scored at 5.25cm and 15.75cm. This creates the folds.
The DSP from Full of Life was cut down to two strips of 14.45cm x 4.85cm. I trimmed some off of each side so that I could continue the pattern across the card with colours that I liked for Christmas.

The centre piece is comprised of 2 diecut pieces of Granny Apple Green & Basic White, made with the Deckled Circles dies.
I then joined a poinsettia & bow from the Joyful Images ephemera pack & a sentiment & strip from the Joyful Sayings ephemera pack. The sentiment is adhered straight onto the circle but the poinsettia was raised on dimensionals.
I applied glue to only the left half of these circles & adhered it to the left flap of the card.
A little tip for you when applying glue to half of a card element - hold the item in place & flip it over, adding a post it note where the edge of the card is. This will allow you to apply glue only where needed. If you struggle to hold the item in place, try placing the post it note on the front, without flipping it.

To decorate the inside of the card & also have an area to write on, I cut some more pieces of DSP for the side panels, this time with different colours plus a piece of Cherry Cobbler for the inside base. A slightly larger Deckled Circle was cut from Basic White & a cute little bow added to the bottom of it. Now there was somewhere cute to write!
The final touch was a few Adhesive Backed Pearls & this cute card was done. So quick but with lots of bright colours it's sure to brighten up someones Christmas.

Well, that's all I have for you this post. I hope you enjoyed this quick & easy funfold. Maybe you'll give it a try yourself?
My next blog is on Sunday where I revisit a beautiful stamp & die set called Gone Fishing. There is also some gorgeous DSP that was released when the bundle was first available.
Next week's mid week post is one I've been looking forward to for a while. It's a very useful Card Keeper Kit that includes materials for 9 general purpose cards plus a stunning box to keep them all in, allowing you to be ready for birthdays or special occasions.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take card & keep creating.
XX Alison
