Fun with flowers from the Flower Cart bundle

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

Stampin' Up® have just launched their new Annual Catalogue & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. There is a section explaining 4 different ways to vary your colours - Monochromatic, Complementary, Analogous & Triadic. It's a wonderful tool to help with creativity but it's not what this week's post is about, that is something I will explore in future posts.

This week I have a beautiful stamp set called Flower Cart to share with you. There is a matching die set which saves you cutting time & helped me to create these beautiful cards. I hope you like them.

I had so much fun creating with this bundle. The possibilities are endless! There are a number of ways to display the flowers but I have only created a flower wagon & collection of containers on my cards. Here is some info on how they were created...

For the flower wagon card I wanted something bright & cheerful so I chose Parakeet Party & Starry Sky as the main colours. The first matte is Parakeet Party, embossed with one of the Basics 3D embossing folders. The second matte is Starry Sky & both of these mattes co-ordinate with the flowers in the wagon. The wheels of the wagon are Pecan Pie & the cobblestones & smaller pot are Pebbled Path - I couldn't resist using it for the 'pebbled path'! 😁 The wagon & flowers are stamped in Starry Sky with Parakeet Party foliage but I added a teeny bit of detail by colouring some parts of the flowers in Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry & Seaside Spray Stampin' Write markers. The flowers in the small pot add a burst of colour with Melon Mambo & Granny Apple Green. The wagon & pot of flowers are raised on glue dots & dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment in Pebbled Path also & added some 2022-24 In Colour Pearls & a double bow made with Sweet Sorbet Metallic Woven ribbon. It's such a pretty but vibrant card.

There's even a little pot of flowers decorating the inside of the card.

The second card is more muted. I chose some DSP from Nature's Sweetness as the Pebbled Path background worked beautifully with my design.

There are a number of different elements to this card but I feel that they all tie together nicely. The flowers are stamped in Orchid Oasis, Fresh Freesia & Crushed Curry with the foliage all Garden Green. The large pot is Pebbled Path & the 2 smaller pots are Crumb Cake. I used some silver metallic paper from my stach for the milk can container for a little bit of contrast.
To add a little bling to the card without embellishments I chose gold heat embossing for the sentiment & found a little spray of love hearts in the Sale-a-bration Thanks a Bunch stamp set that are also heat embossed. For a last touch of bling I cut a 2mm slither of the retired Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty paper to sit in between the two different DSP patterns. There's not much of the Metallic paper left now 😩so I add small snippets of it when I can.
The milk can is raised slightly higher than the other elements with some of the Foam Adhesive strips.

That's all I have for you this week. I hope you enjoyed these creations as much as I enjoyed playing around with this bundle.
