Midweek blog#141 - Make your own gift tags

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

With Christmas drawing ever nearer, this week I am sharing some hand made gift tags with you. They are super easy to make as it all depends on what you have on hand in your stash!

To create all of these tags I used Basic White & Old Olive cardstock for the bases of the tags.
I added 2022-23 In Colour Shimmer paper in Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent, Three Colour Glimmer paper in Pretty Peacock, Dry Brushed Metallic paper, Silver foil & Mediterranean Blooms DSP.

For the decoration of the tags I added images from the Joyful Images ephemera pack & A Little Bit Festive DSP pack.
The tag shapes were diecut with Greetings of the Season dies & the tree images were diecut with the gorgeous Decorative Trees dies.
I added ribbon that I had on hand but have not added sentiments as yet.

There are a couple that have 2 layers, Basic White & Shimmer vellum, one that has blending behind the diecut tree & even one that I didn't create myself!
Can you see the creamy dome on the left in the middle row with the Christmas tree on it? That came straight out of the Tags for the Season ephemera pack. The one to the left of it is also a sneaky creation as the same pack but has a tree added with dimensionals.

At the back of the picture you can see two tags that don't look very Christmassy. These were made with 1cm strips of Thoughtful Designs DSP & were made to show you that there are other ways of creating gift tags if you need them for other occasions.
Here are the steps I went through to create them.
I started with a strip of 8cm Basic White cardstock & oodles of strips of the Thoughtful Wishes DSP.

I placed adhesive on the cardstock then layered the strips diagonally up the length until I reached to top.

The overhanging pieces of DSP on the cardstock were then trimmed off to give a clean edge.

All that was needed then was to diecut the tags out with the Greetings of the Season dies. I will use these tags for birthdays rather than Christmas.
So, as you can see, there are so many different ways that you can be creative when making tags for your gifts. They can even be used on a card front if you like. There are so many possibilities.

That's all I have for you today. My next blog is on Sunday and I will share a beautiful stamp set with you called Cake Fancy. Easy, peasy creating with that one!
Next week in my midweek blog I will share a funfold that uses DSP as the main feature of the card. I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating!
XX Alison
