Mid week blog#145 - Pop up concertina DSP fun fold

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today I have a funfold for you that uses DSP as the main focus but it also has a fun pop up element.

From the front it looks just like a regular card...

but when you open it up...

Pretty cool huh?

Here's how I made it.
I started with a Night of Navy card base.
I cut a 25cm x 14.35cm piece of Mediterranean Blooms DSP and scored it at 5cm, 7.5cm, 10cm, 12.5cm, 15cm, 17.5cm & 20cm. These score lines were then folded as valley, mountain, valley, mountain, valley, mountain & valley.
I applied liquid glue to one of the 5cm, outside sections & lined it up with the inside back of the base.
Once this was held in place & dried, I applied liquid glue to to other large section, holding it down & closing the front of the card onto it. It's important at this stage to make sure you take your time aligning the DSP & cardstock because you don't want a wobbly, crooked card!
The next step was to create the matte & decoration for the card front.
I added a matte of the same DSP with Daffodil Delight & Basic White mattes that had some fussy cut lemons adhered.
I stamped the sentiment from Citrus Blooms in Night of Navy directly onto the cardstock then added a couple of green Transparent Adhesive Backed Dots to finish off.
Once this was adhered to the front it was time to work on the inside of the card.
I diecut 3 Daffodil Delight hearts using Hearts of Elegance. The 3 Basic White smaller hearts have Night of Navy around the cut lines as I inked up the die before running it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. It gives another element to a simple shape.
The sentiment is from the same stamp set but I masked it with adhesive tape before inking it up with Night of Navy. This allowed me to have one word from the sentiment on each of the white hearts.
I then centred the middle sentiment, adding adhesive to only half of the heart, before placing the other two hearts.
The last step was to add a Basic White strip on the last strip so that a greeting could be written. There are also a few images, fussy cut from the DSP.

I love it. It's fresh & clean but a little bit different.

That's all I have for you today. This is my last post for 2024. I've had a really busy year & want to spend some time with my family over the holiday period as well as going over my messy craft room & tidying up my Facebook shop. I'll be back on the 1st January with a quick midweek tips post looking at the new Colour Wheel & how to use it.
Thanks for visiting my blog, especially 'repeat offenders'! I appreciate your support. If you would like me to show you a particular technique, style of stamping or product then please, drop me a line at craftedbyalison@gmail.com & I'll do my best.
Have a wonderful festive season, however & wherever you may celebrate.
Take care & keep creating. Til next year! XX Alison
