Midweek blog #175 - Using the Colour Coach & Complimentary colours to create

 Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. As this post goes live I have just finished work for the last shift & retired! YAY!! Just a lottle excited! To celebrate my husband & I are flying to Queensland tomorrow for some warmer weather. 😁 🌞

In the quick & easy section of the Stampin' Up® annual catalogue they have provided some inspiration with a colour wheel, called the Colour Coach, & information of various ways to use colour combinations. I explored this in a bit more detail in my 1/1/25 mid week blog & also in 30th April blog. This is great for any times that you need a little inspiration. This week I am looking at how to use Complimentary colours with the Colour Coach. Complimentary colours are found opposite each other on the wheel & this week I have chosen 5 colours from opposite sides of the wheel to create this lovely card.

I chose Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist & Very Vanilla from one side & Blackberry Bliss & Berry Burst from the opposite side.

I chose a large stamp from the Mixed Florals stamp set to begin this project then added some DSP from Mixed Media Florals & some Boho Blue cardstock for the base to compliment the DSP, Blackberry Bliss as a matte & Very Vanilla to stamp the image on.

This was stamped Memento Tuxedo black ink then coloured with Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lime Twist & Ivory Stampin' Blends®. Once completed it was diecut with the Mixed Florals dies & a sentiment was diecut in Very Vanilla & Blackberry Bliss using the Sending dies. 

I mounted it on dimensionals on the DSP & Blackberry Bliss mattes which were diecut with the Perennial Postage dies.

This was added to a Boho Blue card base, scored in half with a second score in the centre of the front, folded back on itself.


When opened the front matte is visible because of the fancy fold. A strip of the DSP was also added to the fold. A smaller image was stamped onto some Very Vanilla for the writing matte inside.


That's how easy it was to create using the Colour Coach for inspiration & some supplies on hand.
