Midweek blog#173 - Embossing with the Joined Together folder

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

In my Sunday post I shared some creations made with the Kintsugi Inpirations suite. This suite is just gorgeous & whilst I don't usually feature one suite or product over an extended series of posts, this one has really won my heart so I've decided to showcase different elements of the suite. Sunday was all about the Designer Series Paper. Today's post features the embossing folder called Joined Together. I have created two different ways to use the folder, I hope you like them.

I'll start with a card with a simple strip of embossed cardstock.

This card is a very basic use of the embossing folder but it showcases the beautiful patterns.
The base is Terracotta Tile as it co-ordinates well with some of the Kintsugi Inspirations DSP. I have backed a piece of Basic White embossed cardstock with Terracotta Tile & mounted it on the base with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Kintsugi Inspirations stamp set, stamped in Night of Navy & embossed with clear embossing powder. The finishing touch was to add a few Adhesive Backed Pearl trio's. Simple but effective.
The second card is a little more detailed with the embossing folder used with ink this time.

To create this unique design I inked one side of the embossing folder with some Night of Navy ink then placed a piece of Basic White into the folder before running it through the Stampin' Cut 'n Emboss machine. This gives an embossed finished but also gives a stunning inked image.

I then cut a Night of Navy card base & partially embossed the front by placing the cardstock into the folder but placing the top plate only over a portion of the base so that it can emboss only that area.

The inked cardstock was cut to fit either side of the embossed section.

The sentiment from Go To Greetings (retired) is heat embossed & fussy cut & the embellishments are the gorgeous Drussy Adhesive Backed embellishments pack. I think this is my favourite of the two cards.

I love exploring different ways to use products & really enjoyed trying different effects with the embossing folder.

That's all I have for you today, thanks for joining me. I will be back on Sunday with some ways to use masking in your projects then next week's mid week blog explores using heat embossing with the Kintsugi Inspiration stamps.

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating.

XX Alison
