Home with the honeybees

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog features the beauty of nature using the Honeybee Home stamp set, Honeybee Blooms dies & Hive embossing folder. I hope you like them!

My first creation was inspired by a Pinterest post by Janneke at Happy Stampin'.

I started with a Basic White card base as well as a white matte. I inked directly onto the Hive embossing folder use Bumblebee ink then pressed the matte over to transfer the ink. This gave the honeycomb effect. The flowers were stamped in Memento black and coloured with Pale Papaya, So Saffron & Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends. I die cut them using the Honeybee Blooms dies & adhered them directly to the matte with just a small amount of dimensionals at the top to give a little bit of height. The sentiment is from the Honeybee Home stamp set. I used a piece of retired Grapefruit Grove ribbon behind the mounted sentiment & finished off the card with some Bumblebee trinkets & a Brushed Brass Butterfly.

For the next card I decided to use some of the Heart & Home DSP over a matte of Sahara Sand cardstock. I stamped a different bloom from the stamp set in Crumb Cake on a matte of Basic White, die cut using the Scalloped Contours dies. I stamped an extra bloom which I coloured with Pale Papaya, Coral Calypso & Soft Suede Stampin' Blends before raising it with some dimensionals over the stamped images. The bees are stamped in Early Espresso & coloured with the Pale Papaya & Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. These were adhered with a little Tombow at the bottom of the image plus some offcuts of dimensionals behind the wings to make them look like they are hovering over the flowers. The tag is an offcut of Sahara Sand, diecut with the Tasteful Labels tag & the sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso on white then fussy cut. The card was finished with details inside, some Elegant Faceted gems & a small Petal Pink bow using the 1/8" Cotton Ribbon Combo pack.

And now for my final card. This little beauty was made while watching Bruno & Kylie Bertucci in a Youtube Live. It was so much fun to make & quite easy too. It was created using nearly all of the new 2022-24 In Colours plus a little Garden Green.

Let me explain how you could make one of these too. I started with a piece of Starry Sky cardstock measuring 25 x 14.9cm. This was scored on the long side at 10.5 & 21cm then folded & burnished. The DSP is from the 2022-24 In Colour DSP with Orchid Oasis being the main colour & a little bit of Sweet Sorbet to contrast inside. The smaller card on the front measures 16 x 8cm, scored at 8cm. DSP was cut 1/2 cm smaller all around for all panels. I alternated the pattern but it's the same piece of DSP. The image on the front of the card was stamped in Parakeet Party then daubed with some Garden Green around the edges of the stamp for a two-tone effect. The flowers inside the small card were stamped in Blushing Bride then daubed with some Sweet Sorbet then coloured in with Flirty Flamingo Blends & Sweet Sorbet Stampin' Write. The sentiment is from the Plentiful Plants stamp set & was inked the same way as the front images. I had a scrap of Garden Green that still had some stitching from a previous cutting so I mounted the sentiment on that & love it. The final additions were some metallic twine & Brushed Brass Butterflies. It's such a pretty card. The only In Colour that wasn't used was Tahitian Tide.

There are so many other ways of using the stamps, dies & embossing folder but that's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed my creations. If you decide to create any of your own I'd love to see them so please feel free to head over to my FaceBook page at craftedbyalison & post a pic there.

That's all I have for this post. On Wednesday I have a technique that uses punches to create a 'Peek-a-boo' effect & next Sunday's post has a 3D element using the Bottled Happiness stamp set, Vintage Bottle punch & Shaker domes. I hope you can join me for both of them.

If you would like to order any of the supplies I used today you can head over to my Stampin' Up® shop using the links below.
