Creating nature themed cards with Ocean Front stamp set.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about creating nature themed cards using the Ocean Front stamp set. I hope you like what I've made!

This blog was prepared a few days in advance as when this is published I will be busily crafting away at an online event called Online Stamping Retreat (Autumn version). I'm very excited about this retreat as I attended the Spring version earlier this year that Lisa Curcio & Kylie Bertucci co-hosted along with Gina Hawley & Bruno Bertucci. It was loads of fun and this one is sure to be as well. I will post some pics in future blogs of what we made. So excited!!!

Now back to this week's post, all cards this week are simple cards, suitable for either gender and show a variety of landscape views.

I'll go through them one at a time to explain how they were made.

Card number one is a countryside scene.

I chose Sahara Sand for the base & Early Espresso for a matte then used blues & greens for the countryside colours. The foreground is Old Olive then the grassland is stamped in Pear Pizzazz with Mossy Meadow for the trees which are from Mountain Air. The sky is Balmy Blue with some birds from On the Horizon stamped in Basic Gray. I chose two beautiful sentiment from the new Charming Sentiments stamp set for the front & inside & stamped them in Early Espresso. The only embellishments are a few Enamel Pebble shapes. I like to stamp co-ordinating envelopes as shown in the last picture.

Card number 2 is an ocean sunset scene.

I love the colours in this card! The beach is Sahara Sand with Early Espresso grass & Cinnamon Cider pebbles. The water is Pool Party & the sky is half Calypso Coral & half Bumblebee. I applied half of the stamp directly to the inkpads for both colours without stamping then to achieve a seamless join I simple used a sponge dauber to blend some Calypso Coral over the join. The setting sun was created by masking off a diecut circle at the bottom of the sky then sponging on Pumpkin Pie for a deep golden orange sun. The sentiment is again from Charming Sentiments & stamped in Early Espresso.

For the third & final card I chose a seaside view.

On a Basic White base I layered a piece of Pretty Prints DSP, using the plain side instead of the pattern. The image was created with Sahara Sand for the sand with  Crumb Cake reeds. The ocean was Mint Macaron with a few daubs of Coastal Cabana. The sky Balmy Blue with some daubs of Tahitian Tide & Seaside Spray. I also used Crumb Cake for the sentiment & birds. This was then mounted on a piece of Sahara Sand. I then wrapped some white baker's twine around & knotted it before added dimensionals to the sentiment which had the edges punched with the Banners Pick-a-punch.

Three different takes using the same stamp set but with three distinct scenes. I really love how these have turned out & whilst I originally planned to make male themed cards with this set I can easily see them being suitable for ladies who aren't into flowers or fussy cards.

That's it for this week's creations. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you can join me again on Wednesday for my Mid Week blog in which I show you how to create a pinwheel as the focus of a card. Next Sunday's blog is all about flowers with the beautiful Fresh Cut Flowers stamp set. I hope you can join me for both of those.
