Inspiration to create with the stunning Waves of Inspiration

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog features a new stamp set, dies & DSP from the 2022-23 Annual catalogue. The colours & designs of the papers are stunning! Unfortunately the papers were a limited edition offering but the cards featured here can be easily adapted to other DSP.

There is so much inspiration on Youtube & FaceBook and so many lovely projects to make with this collection so I chose three beautiful card designs that inspired me. Here's the first one.....

This design was inspired by Jacquie Williams at StampHappy. It's a very easy card to make. On a Basic White card base I added a matte of Early Espresso then some DSP from Bloom Where You're Planted. I stamped directly onto the DSP with Soft Suede & the Pelican stamp. I then used one of the Stitched rectangles dies to trace around the inside with a black marker, not completing each line though. After removing the die I freehand drew some more lines around the first one, overlapping some in the corners to give it a rustic frame. You can't have a water scene without birds right? so I added some in black behind the pelican. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede & diecut with a banner die from the Waves dies & threaded some Real Red Ribbon through the holes. I twisted some loops of twine & adhered them to the back of the banner before mounting it with dimensionals. To finish off I added some Red Rhinestones.

The next card showcases the gorgeous waves stamp from the stamp set along with the blue & green inks we have in our range. The inspiration for this card came from Mitosu crafts.
The card base is Coastal Cabana with a Starry Sky matte. I stamped the waves using the Stamparatus as it is such a large stamp plus it also allowed me to add more colour to the stamp & stamp over without any movement. I used Bermuda Bay for the initial stamp then added some Night of Navy with a sponge dauber. To add more depth to the colours I used a blending brush & some Pool Party & achieved a spray effect around the surf wave. To highlight the white spray that you see on the waves I diecut a layer using vellum with some adhesive sheets attached prior to diecutting & adhered that directly over the stamped wave. Those adhesive sheets save a lot of fiddling with glue when working with intricate diecuts like the waves!
For the sentiment I diecut a different banner from the Waves dies, stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay & black then fussy cut the words & mixed up the colours. I threaded some Pool Party sheer ribbon & Tahitian Tide metallic woven ribbon through the ends of the tag & secured them behind the front mattes before they were glued down. To create some different dimension for the words I used a mixture of mini glue dots & mini dimensionals so that they would adhere to the banner as well as the card front. This was then finished off with some jewels from the Rhinestone Waves basic jewels.
It's sad that they were only available for a limited time, along with the DSP but luckily I ordered a couple of packs! 😁

The final card I have to show you was featured in my Mid Week blog on Wednesday. It was inspired by a Youtube post I saw from Cheri's cards, Stampinonline.com. It's a Double Flap fold card & all the details on how I created it are in my Mid Week Blog.

I had so much fun creating this week & I hope you enjoyed checking out my creations. I would love to see any creations you might have made using this stamp set so please feel free to pop over to my FaceBook page, craftedbyalison, & post a pic.

That's it for this week. Thanks for popping in. My next Mid Week blog on Wednesday shows you how to create from a simple design to a stepped up version. Next week's regular blog features a brand new stamp set from the new Annual Catalogue - Splendid Thoughts. I was lucky enough to create some gorgeous projects in an online crafting session with demonstrators from Stampin' Up®'s head office as well as others from around the globe. I hope you can join me for both of these blogs.

If you would like to order any of the supplies I used today you can head over to my Stampin' Up® shop using the links below.

If you would like to purchase any of the cards I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison.

If you would like me to send you a catalogue then please message me via my FaceBook page, Crafted by Alison or send me an email at craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
