Tic Tac Toe challenge #174

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about making a card using a Tic Tac Toe themed challenge. Using the grid below I looked back over my creations & found a very special card I had made for a workmate to give to his niece. I would normally make a new card but this week has been rather challenging with my Mum being hospitalised. We weren't sure whether she'd make it but with lots of fluids & exceptional care from the staff at her nursing home she looks to be on the mend. I hope you understand & I hope you like what I've got to show you!

This is the current Tic Tac Toe challenge, No. 74, that the card is based on. The principle of the challenge is there are 3 columns & 3 rows with a different focus in each square. You choose a row, either diagonal, horizontal or vertical & create using those 3 items.

I chose the diagonal row with Red/Pink, Patterned Paper & Die cut. Here's the finished card front....

and now for the inside of the card.....

This style of card is called a Twist & Pop card. I had seen them & heard people say that they were easier than they look but never made one myself. The engagement seemed the perfect reason to give it a try. I found a Twist & Pop video on Youtube by Lisa Cursio of Lisa's Stamp Studio & followed her directions. She really is a great teacher!
There are 3 main pieces of cardstock used to create the card & the important part of making this card is the scorelines. The DSP papers I used were retired stock, From my Heart. The stamps & dies are also retired - Meant to be, Forever Blooms and Love & Happiness stamp sets & Stitched be mine dies.
As the card was a little chunky with the extra DSP & cardstock I incorporated a ribbon behind one layer of the cardstock to help close the card but also for decoration.
Here's a link to Lisa's blog where she features the Twist & Pop card that inspired mine

& here's a link to her Youtube video as well

I would normally walk you through how I made my cards but this week has been quite emotional & my time has not been my own. Hopefully Mum continues to improve & I can return to my normal creating routine as next week's blogs are a Dutch barn door fancy fold on Wednesday & CASE the catalogue on  Sunday. Included in Wednesday's blog will be information about the FREE World Card Making Day event that Stampin' Up® are holding on 1st October so be sure to come back for that.

Here is a link to my online shop if you would like to purchase any supplies or feel the need to have a browse through the latest catalogues for some inspiration & to see what goodies there are at the moment like the gorgeous big pack of Gingham DSP, perfect for getting Christmas preparations started. Or perhaps you'd like to create with minimal hassles with one of our many Kits

That's all I have for you today. Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
