Fresh Cut Flowers

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about creating nature themed cards using the Fresh Cut Flowers stamp set & co-ordinating Fresh Cut Stems dies which unfortunately was only available during the Perfect Partners promotion in September but a similar result can be made by fussy cutting around the bouquet.

I would normally have 3 versions to share with you but this week there are only two as I have been away on a Mystery Picnic with my husband! We had a glorious 2 days in the Dandenong Ranges. Starting Friday we followed clues to collect picnic items, visited some gorgeous gardens to eat the picnic then spent the night in a super cute little cottage. We then took our time exploring the area on Saturday before returning home. I hope you like the two cards I've made though!

I had a lot of fun playing around with these stamp set & dies. There are so many possibilities with the different stamps & how to use them but today I am showing you two similar layouts with totally different results. For the first card I started with Basic White & Parakeet Party as my two main colours. I stamped the large bouquet & the smaller bunch in Smoky Slate & the smaller sprigs in Parakeet Party. I left the flowers blank except for one small flower in the bunch that I hand coloured with Pale Papaya Stampin' Write. I then diecut all of them out along with a couple of sprigs diecut from Pale Papaya Shimmer Vellum. I used the lattice die from Split Card Textures dies to create a white lattice to place behind the flowers. I left some pieces in the lattice for visual effect. With Parakeet Party I created a matte with a criss-cross border & also cut a smaller piece to use under the sentiment. I chose the new Go To Greetings stamp set for the sentiment which was stamped in Tuxedo Black & fussy cut around the top only. Dimensionals were added to some of the bouquet & a double layer of mini glue dots to other areas to give multi levels to the stamped images. The final step was a few Black Matte dots.

The next card used the same large bouquet stamp in two different ways. I started with a base of Starry Sky, added a layer of Sahara Sand which had the same colour daubed around the edges. A piece of Basic White was also daubed around the edges as well as blended around the centre of the card. Over this I stamped the bouquet & sentiment in Starry Sky. On a piece of Orchid Oasis I used the same stamp with Versamark & white embossing powder before diecutting it. This was then offset over the white cardstock with mini glue dots. I added some Brushed Metallic adhesive dots & a small Orchid Oasis metallic woven ribbon bow to complete it.

Two similar but different cards that I think are both really lovely. There are more stamps in the set that I haven't used yet but that is for another post. I have seen some amazing water colour versions created by other crafters and I would love to create something of my own so in a future post I will share a watercolour version with you. For now though that's all I have for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you can join me again on Wednesday for my Mid Week blog. It's my 52nd issue so I'm celebrating with a special blog. In next Sunday's blog I will be creating Christmas cards with the Artistically Inked stamp set. I hope you can join me for both of those.
