Mid Week blog #57 - Make your own gift bags.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is a fun fold design that I noticed on Pootles youtube channel. I tweaked it a little but the inspiration was from one of her Advent designs. It's kind of a cross between a gift bag & a box. You could put a variety of small gifts in it but I have used small candles for the examples. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Here are the two completed items. One is for Christmas while the other is for a birthday. I used Celebrate Everything DSP for both bags. Below are the steps I took to create them.

Step 1 - Cut DSP to 23 x 17cm. Score on the long side at 4cm & 19cm. Turn 90 degrees & score at 4, 8 & 12cm ONLY to the first score line. Score at 16cm the entire length.

Step 2 - Fold & burnish the score lines on the long side then the small score line that was scored the entire length.

Step 3 - Cut the small triangle out completely from the 16cm score line & cut up to the score line for the 4, 8 & 12cm score lines. Apply liquid glue or tape along the 1cm strip & carefully fold it over to create a tube. Apply glue to 3 of the 4 base strips & glue them down. I placed a glue bottle inside to help the glue set. You could also put a votive candle inside.

Step 4 - Carefully pinch in the top to create a closure. Punch a small hole in the centre for the ribbon to go through. Stamp your desired sentiment & die cut. I used Oval Occasions stamps & diecut with the Candy Canes dies. The ribbon is Very Vanilla Open Weave ribbon & wraps around the whole tube. The label was raised up on a few dimensionals before tying a bow on one side. Below is an alternative bag which is a square tube rather that the cylinder of the previous one.

For the Christmas tube I followed the steps of the birthday cylinder but instead of scoring only to the first score line in Step 1 I scored the entire length of 4, 8, 12 & 16cm.

To co-ordinate with the paper I used Magenta Madness In Colour ribbon & tied a bow on both sides of the sentiment which is from Trimming the Tree & diecut using Tree Trimmings dies.

These are really quick to make & could easily be adjusted to fit other items, smaller or larger - just make it smaller or larger depending on the gift!

I hope you enjoyed this blog. I'd love to see what you come up with if you try it so feel free to post some pics on my FaceBook page at craftedbyalison.
That's all I have for you for this post. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you've enjoyed this post. My next blog will be on Sunday & features the lovely new Framed Florets stamps & matching dies. Next week's Mid Week blog is a fun fold with a step. I hope you can join me for both of those.
Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
