Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Today I will show you how to create beautiful papers with inks, blending brushes, a little bit of water & cardstock!
The first step is selecting the colours. I chose Bumblebee, Crumb Cake & So Saffron.
The first colour applied is So Saffron
The next colour is Bumblebee. There is more depth to the cardstock now.
The third colour applied is Crumb Cake which gives the cardstock a subtle tan. As I intend to use this cardstock for my Sunday blog with the Taco Fiesta stamp set I wanted a colour with more yellow to it.
So I added some Crushed Curry & it was just what I wanted!
So the next step is to add some speckles with an aqua painter.
To achieve the right colour combination I chose Early Espresso & Soft Suede. If you press down on the top of an ink pad you will end up with a splodge of paint on the inside of the lid. When you pick up the ink with the paintbrush it's easy to then flick the paint across the cardstock. You can achieve the splatter by tapping the paintbrush against your finger or another object or by gently flicking the paintbrush. I also added some drops of plain water for some lighter areas.
Here are some pictures of the finished project.
The cardstock is perfect for use with the Taco Fiesta stamps that I will be using in my Sunday blog.
That's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed this technique. If you try this yourself I would love to see some photos of your work. Please feel free to post them to my facebook page at craftedbyalison.
My next blog on Sunday features some creations made with this cardstock & stamps from the Taco Fiesta set. In next week's Mid Week blog I will be showing you how to create a centre step card. I hope you can join me again for both of those.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
