Mid Week blog #65 - Cutting 6x6" DSP

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today I have 2 different ways to cut up your 6x6" DSP to make the most of the paper & get as many cards as possible out of each piece.

These 5 cards were made with just 2 pieces of 6x6" DSP. You can cut the DSP in lots of different ways but here are the 2 ways I cut it.

The left piece was cut into 3x2" strips. The piece on the right was cut into two 2x2" pieces & one 4x5 1/2" piece. It left a small 1/2"x4" piece. It also has a pattern on the reverse....

I used the larger piece for this card....

And the other pieces for these cards....

The tiny strip on the left when cut was used inside the card....

The second 6x6" piece was used on 2 cards as one was a fun fold that used 2 of the 2x6" pieces....

This was the 'fun' part at the front of the card which was then adhered to a regular card base....

And finally, here's the second card....

It's a simple design. An embossed matte, some ribbon wrapped around it before attaching it to the base then two diecut circles using DSP from the same pack. My Sunday blog features the new Adorable Owls stamp set that is free when you order $90 from the new Mini Catalogue which goes live on January 5th so I added one of the owls along with a sentiment & some bling.

I love how these all turned out. It really is easy to use every bit of the 6x6" DSP when making cards. I have lots of other ideas for using the DSP so will show you more in future blogs. But for now that's it. If you would like more info on how I created these cards then don't forget to check back on Sunday when I will have all the details for you.
In my mid week blog next week I will be CASEing the catalogue with a card made with the Sending Smiles stamp set & matching dies. It's such a pretty stamp set with gorgeous samples, I hope you can join me for both of these blogs.
So that's it for another mid week blog. Thanks so much for stopping by. Please contact me at craftedbyalison on Facebook if I can help you with anything.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
