Mid Week blog #66 - CASEing the catalogue - Sending Smiles

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about CASE'ing creations from the Stampin' Up® Annual Catalogue. The stamp set I have chosen to CASE is called Sending Smiles & is really sweet. It also has a matching die to cut out the large font greeting plus some beautiful flowers & greenery.

First up I have a pic of the card I made as well as the card as it appears on page 14 of the current 2022-23 Annual Catalogue.

It was really hard to decide which one to CASE as they are all beautiful so I decided to CASE them all. I'm only showing you one of them in this post though but don't worry, the others will be in my post on Sunday.

Here's a sneak peak at the process of creating the cards......

It's a bit messy I know but I promise that it was all cleaned up by the end! 😁

Now for the finished card & envelope....

I chose this card because it's such a pretty layout but I changed a few things just a little. I used different colours than that in the catalogue & the vellum matte is different. Other than that I tried to keep it true to the original.

A few tips on how I created the different effects & steps in making this card.
Tip #1. The flowers & stems are stamped twice to give the shadowy effect & the darker image has been raised on dimensionals.

Tip #2. To create the background colour behind the main word I simply used a blending brush with Orchid Oasis, the same as the cardstock, & then used the die from Sending dies.
Tip #3. As the script is quite thin I added a sheet of adhesive before diecutting so that it would be easier to stick down. You then peel off the backing to adhere it to the cardstock. That makes it much easier than trying to use liquid glue!
Tip #4. To create the two tone colour of the flowers I used Stampin' Write markers directly onto the stamp. The colours I used in various combinations were Melon Mambo, Sweet Sorbet, Polished Pink, Bumblebee, Mango Melody & So Saffron. These all either matched the colours already used in inks & cardstock or complemented them.

I had such a lot of creating these cards & look forward to playing around some more with the stamps & dies. If you want to see the other cards I created based on the catalogue samples then don't forget to come back on Sunday to see the full details. Next week's mid week blog will be a colour challenge. Colour challenges are always fun & help me to be a little more creative.

But for now, that's all I have for you. Thanks so much for stopping by. Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
