Mid Week blog #69 - Card Sketch #7

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about. Today I will be sharing a card sketch with you. The card itself was featured in Sunday 29/1/23's blog but this blog explains the sketch used.

This is Card Sketch number 7. There's a rectangle, square & circle to start with. This can be in portrait or landscape. I chose portrait as I was making a card for a special friend & felt that the pieces all fitted better in this orientation.

Here's a recap on what I used for each element.

Card base - Basic White
DSP Matte - precut Abstract Beauty 4" x 6" DSP
Rectangle - Pretty Peacock cardstock which compliments the colours in the DSP
Square - The month of February, from the Days to Remember stamp set. I circled the date of my friends birthday to give extra significance to the date.
Circle - I used pansies grouped together instead of an exact circle. They are from the Pansy Patch bundle & stamped in Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape, Merry Merlot & Daffodil Delight. The leaves are Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent.
As an added element I stamped "It's Your Day" directly onto the same DSP then diecut with the Layering Circles dies & backed it with a larger scalloped circle from the same set in Pretty Peacock. Of course, before it gets mailed there will be some extra bling added to finish it off!

So that's it for another Mid Week blog. I hope you enjoyed this card sketch & what I created with it. Card sketches are a wonderful way to spark a little bit of creativity & are just the starting point for creating great cards. They can be tweaked in so many ways & each time you end up with a unique creation. If you use this sketch I'd love to see what you create so please feel free to post a pic on my Facebook page at craftebyalison.

My next blog is on Sunday & features a lovely bundle, Honey Bee blooms stamps & dies. It's such a pretty set that I've shared with you before & I can't wait to show you what I've created with it this time. Next week's Mid Week blog is all about fun folds! I will be sharing with you a card I created for a card swap that is kind of a Z fold but a little bit different. I hope you can join me again for both of those.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
