Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects.
That's what this blog is about. Today I will be showing you how to stamp on Specialty paper which sometimes takes a different approach to achieve the perfect finish. So here's a pic of the front of the finished card.
I started with some Stampin' Up Mother of Pearl specialty paper & embossed & diecut it with the Seashells embossing folder & Seaside Seashells dies. This gave me a lovely diecut image that I stamped directly onto with the Seaside Seashells stamps. Here is a pic of how the first shell looks when stamped in Calypso Coral.
Whilst it looked pretty, I wasn't happy with the sharpness of the image on the soft paper. I stamped the rest of the shells in Sahara Sand, So Saffron & Blushing Bride & thought the same so I got out a baby wipe & carefully rubbed away some of the ink until I had a soft, blended finish. Once I was happy with the amount of ink on the shells I coloured the greenery with Stampin' Blends in Dark Soft Sea foam which gave it a naturally soft finish. Here is the finished image coloured & mounted on a Balmy Blue card base with a matte of Sand & Sea DSP.
There wasn't much else that the card needed, just a sentiment stamped in Night of Navy, diecut using the Tailor Made Tags dies with a piece of Night of Navy ribbon.
I didn't feel that the card needed anything else on the front but added another sentiment inside & some Seaside Shells stickers. That's it. I love the soft, sparkly finish to this card which is going to one of my dearest friends for her birthday.
Quite a simple card to make but it certainly has a WOW factor. I got the idea from a post by Amy Koenders from stampwithamyk.com.
Thanks for popping in, I hope you enjoyed this post. My next blog will be on Sunday & features a special stamp set called Days to remember & my next mid week blog is a card sketch. I hope you can join me for both of them. Until next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
