Pretty Pop up butterflies & flowers Pt 1

 Hello, welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. If this is your first time here, thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. If you're a returning visitor, thank you so much for supporting me! 😍

This week I have a die with a difference. The die pack is called Pretty Pop Ups & has 10 different dies that feature cutaway areas that allow you to pop up some elements of the design. This pic shows some of the pop ups from the card I created.

As you can see, not all of the area is raised but it's enough to give a 3D effect & highlight some pretty aspects of this die. Here's a full view of the slimline card.

It's super easy to create the pop up effect with these dies. You can either press gently on the back with your fingers or for the smaller areas simply use a stylus or Take Your Pick tool. Now here's a pic of the inside which I used 3 small dies to create some little pop up elements.

There is a small oval, medium rectangle & large circle die in the pack as well as a number of little dies. I chose the rectangle die as I wanted to create a card with a selection of mauve & purple cardstock colours.

Using Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather & Fresh Freesia pieces I ran them through the Cut & Emboss machine. The Highland Heather piece was going to be the centre focus of the card so I used 2 dies at the one time - Scalloped Contours for the label shape & the Pretty Pop Ups die. The other 2 were placed behind the Basic White cardstock after I cut 2 rectangles with the Stitched Rectangles dies. The trick to having a balanced card is to make sure that you measure where each piece will be.
Once the top & bottom pieces were adhered I glued the front piece to a Highland Heather card base.
The sentiments, from Flowing Flowers, seemed to be just the right message to go with the butterflies, dragonflies & flowers.
The centre piece was (carefully) raised with dimensionals. I used the Foam Adhesive Strips & cut long strips for the sides with smaller pieces spaced around the rest of the die area. I find that the strips are slighter higher than the regular dimensionals so cutting the strips was the best option to ensure that the card was raised evenly.

For the inside of the card I decided to use a few of the smaller dies to co-ordinate with the front. I love the simplicity of the images but it also has a little wow factor. In fact I love how the whole card turned out! I hope you do to. During the making of this card I also diecut some other shapes to have a play around with but they will be for another blog! 😁

Well that's it for another week. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this post. My next post is for my mid week blog on Wednesday when I will be showing you how to create quick & easy cards. Next week's post will feature a great bundle called Alphabest. It's a stamp set that features individual letters plus a punch for creating little labels with the letters. I can't wait to show you lots of ways to use it! I hope you can join me again for both of these posts.

HOT NEWS:

  1. Just a reminder that Stampin' Up® will be launching their new Annual Catalogue very shortly. There will also be a new mini catalogue launching at the same time. Stampin' Up® have changed their catalogue launch times to have both the Annual & Mini launch at the same time. This gives you more time to browse without wondering when the next catalogue is due!
  2. They have also announced that they will be having a 'colour refresh' which will include not only the new In Colours but a change up of the regular colours in the range. It will be very exciting to see what colours they will introduce & what colours will be leaving. Just quietly, I'm hoping for some more blues!
