Fancy some Mexican?

 Hello, welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. If this is your first time here, thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. If you're a returning visitor, thank you so much for supporting me! 😍

As this post goes to air I will be happily stamping away with hundreds of other crafters at the Online Stampin Retreat hosted by Lisa Curcio, Kylie Bertucci, Gina Hawley & Bruno Bertucci! I'm super excited as this is the third OSR I have attended. It means that I have to be ready to craft from 5am! but the ideas, creativity & projects that I will have at the end of it will be amazing, just like the last 2 OSRs. I will post pics of my creations on my facebook page at craftedbyalison but will also share in future blogs. I will definitely need a few coffees to get through the day!

Today's creation uses the distressed watercolour cardstock that I created in my Midweek blog #78 on Wednesday. It also showcases a super cute stamp set called Taco Fiesta. I have loved crafting with this set & the cardstock I created. I hope you love these cards too.

I'll start with the card I created using the distressed watercolour paper I featured in Wednesday's blog. It's a fun, vibrant card that captures the yummy moments of eating guacamole with corn chips. I showed the finished card to my girls & my eldest loved it so much she said it's her favourite card so far! She is a big fan of Mexican food, in particular spicy foods, so I suppose it's not such a surprise!

I started with a 21cm x 14.8cm Poppy Parade card base & scored it at 7cm & 14cm. I added some 6.5cm x 14.4cm strips of Dandy Designs DSP to the front panels.
Next, I cut three strips of Poppy Parade measuring 9.5cm x 3.5cm & 3 strips of Basic White measuring 9cm x 3cm.

The corn chips were created from the distressed watercolour paper using some of the stamps from Taco Fiesta, dies from Beautiful Shapes as well as free form cutting. The avocados & guacamole were stamped from the set & hand coloured with Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade, Night of Navy & Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. I added a splatter of white to the bowls with a white marker pen. I love how they worked out! All of the images were fussy cut & added to each of the panels along with the sentiments. The sentiments are actually one sentiment which I masked to create two separate ones! There are no embellishments as I felt the images were enough for the card.

The second card is a Pinata card inspired by a Youtube post by Julianne Richards at Stampin' with Julianne.

The base is 14cm x 28cm, scored in half. The first matte is Starry Sky, measuring 12cm x 12cm. The top matte measures 11cm x 11cm. The stitched centre was created using the Stylish Shapes dies. I used the pinata fillings stamp to create a cute background on the white matte. The colours were applied directly to the stamp with Polished Pink, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie & Granny Apple Green Stampin' Write markers.

The fringe was created with 3.5cm x 10cm strips of Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Polished Pink, Granny Apple Green & Pumpkin Pie cardstock which I fringed with some paper snips. These were adhered to the reverse of the white matte with tape, layering from the top of the card down. I poked the fringe through from the back so that the edges of the strips were longer than the aperture so could be stuck down for extra support. I ruffled them a little to separate the fringe.

The pinata donkey was hand coloured with Parakeet Party, Polished Pink, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write markers as well as two of the skin tone markers - SU700 & SU800. This was fussy cut & I used a glue dot to adhere a piece of Starry Sky metallic woven ribbon to the reverse & tucked it on the back of the matte. Finally, I used some Foam Adhesive strips to raise it up from the Starry Sky matte. Once the white matte is adhered the pinata swings when moved as it is only stuck down on the white section. You can see how they swing in the two previous photos. Super cute.
The sentiment is from a Sale-a-bration stamp set called Awesome Otters. It is stamped in Starry Sky on Basic White then matted with some Daffodil Delight. The ends were created with the Banners Pick-a-punch. Again there are no embellishments as the decoration is enough.

So, that's it for this week. I really had a lot of fun creating with this stamp set. It won't be the last time it comes out to play, that's for sure! Please bear in mind that some of the colours used in these creations are retiring at the end of the current Annual catalogue so are either low stock or sold out. Sorry, but remember, if you don't have the materials I use then just swap them out for what you do have. That's how new creations happen!

In next Sunday's post it's all about some new embossing folders called Basic Embossing Folders. There are 3 folders in the pack & are only available in the Online Exclusives section of my online shop. They are really versatile & great value so I hope you can come back to see what I've created! I can't wait to show you what I make! I hope you can join me again for both of these posts.

Until next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
