Mid Week blog #86 - CASE the catalogue - Circle Sayings

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today's blog features two cards made using the new Circle Sayings stamp set with it's co-ordinating 2 3/8" (6cm) punch. They are based on cards from the annual catalogue (pg17) & as with most CASE'd cards are similar to the original but slightly different. They are quick & easy to make & I had a lot of fun re-creating them. I hope you like them too.

Here are my finished cards...

...and here are the originals from the catalogue..

The card on the left is made with a Petal Pink base & uses the 2023-24 In Colour DSP for the feature strip. The card on the right features a Boho Blue base & has different embossing on the matte & a different matte for the sentiment. Here's how I made mine.

The card base is the new soft pink called Bubble Bath. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment all over the matte rather than just on the left as the original has. I used some old DSP from the Abstract Beauty pack for the DSP strip. The inks are Bubble Bath for the matte & cupcake icing, Berry Burst for the cupcake image & also sponging on the wrapper & Starry Sky for the sentiment.

The second card has one of the new blues, Azure Afternoon for the base & matte. The matte is embossed with the Stripes & Splatters embossing folder. Instead of just a white matte for the image & sentiment I chose some more of the Abstract Beauty DSP to matte behind the image & sentiment. Both are diecut with the Stylish Shapes circles. I stamped the image in Gray Granite then sponged with Wild Wheat & Daffodil Delight for the sun & Azure Afternoon for the waves. The sentiment is stamped in another new colour, Lost Lagoon which goes nicely with the DSP colours. the final touch was to use some of the 2021-23 In Colour jewels.

While I have used the catalogue card as a starting point I was able to combine new colours, original colours & some retired DSP & embellishments as Stampin' Up has products that compliment each other, whether they are current or retired. This is great for my budget as it means I can use up old stock while I add to my collection when I can afford it.
Well, that's it for this mid week blog. I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I have created. My next blog is on Sunday when I will show you more creations made with the Circle Sayings stamp set & other stamp combinations.
Next week's mid week blog will feature ink blending as a background. I hope you can join me for both posts. If you have any questions about this week's cards or anything else, please feel free to contact me via facebook at craftedbyalison.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
