Mid Week blog #91 - CASE the catalogue, Zoo Crew

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today I have 2 cards I CASE'd from the new Annual Catalogue using the Zoo Crew suite which is featured on page 46.

Here are my versions of the cards...

... and here are the images from the catalogue...

There's not a lot of difference, just some subtle changes.

For the first card I used Lemon Lime Twist for the base with a 10.5x21cm matte in the same colour. This matte had all of the circle features, diecuts & embellishments added to it after I wrapped some of the Lemon Lime Twist ribbon around it.

I used Loose Flower Flourishes & a Bumblebee trinket instead of the embellishments on the original. I also chose to diecut the coloured skunk from the DSP rather than stamping & colouring him. The circles are various sizes from the Stylish Shapes dies. I used a water colour pen with ink from the inside of the inkpads to colour parts of the images as well as some Stampin' Write Markers. I also used the full sentiment & Messages dies. Close to the catalogue sample but I 'made it my own'.

The second card has a Petal Pink base, Lemon Lolly stage curtains & Zoo Crew DSP over a Crumb Cake piece which formed the 'wood' for the stage. It was also changed slightly by using coloured flowers rather than the Petal Pink shown in the sample.

It really is easy to get inspiration when you use the catalogue samples. If your MOJO is feeling a little tired or you just like the samples, CASEing is a great way to create.

Thanks for joining me, I hope you enjoyed these cards & will try CASEing yourself. If you do I would love for you to post a pic on my Facebook page, craftedbyalison. That's it for this week. My next blog is on Sunday featuring a lovely stamp set called Nature's Prints. Next week's mid week blog will feature an Offset Gatefold design.

I hope you can join me for both of them. Til next time, take care & keep creating!

XX Alison
