Mid Week Blog #95 - creating little gifts for special occasions.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Regular visitors will know that my Mum lives in a nursing home near me. We are very lucky that she is so close & that she has some wonderful staff who love their work & their residents. Recently it was 'Aged Care Appreciation day' so I decided to thank all of the wonderful people who look after Mum, in the kitchen, laundry, cleaning, nursing, creating activities & maintenance. It takes lots of people & lots of hard work to maintain a safe & nurturing environment for our older generations.

I just happened to have some cellophane bags handy, 😁 so decided to pop a few small chocolates in them with a little tag to say Thank You. Here are the finished bags ready to go to the staff.

Each bag has 3 chocolates in it & is sealed before adding a tag. The tags were all created with scraps of mainly retired DSP but also some Delightfully Eclectic DSP. They were diecut using Celebration Label, Stitched So Sweetly, Scalloped Contours & Deckled Rectangles dies. These were the perfect size to fold in half as the tag toppers. The 'Thanks' diecut was made using the Well Written dies. There are also 2 larger bags that were for the support staff. The gift was completed with a Thank You card for the ground & first floor staff.
It was just a small gift for each staff member (hopefully there were enough) but I'm sure there would have been a moment when a small choc would have been just the pick me up they needed to make it through to the end of their shift! I sometimes need a little treat to finish the day with the children at work. 😁

That was a very quick example of how you can take a few small supplies, old & new, & create a small smile on someone's face. I hope you enjoyed it & will try it yourself.

So that's it for this week. My next blog is on Sunday where I will show you how to create a cute card for those who like to create things for others. It uses a brand new stamp & die set called Crafting With You. Next week's Mid Week blog is a Tic Tac Toe challenge. I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
