Mid week post #98 - Patchwork Border layout
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
In this week's blog I'm sharing a card layout called Patchwork Border. Basically it uses strips of DSP layered around the borders of the card to showcase gorgeous DSP without using a lot of paper & is also ideal for using up strip scraps.
Here's my creation made with the Earthen Textures DSP, stamps & dies...
The base is Misty Moonlight & the matte for the DSP is Pecan Pie. I cut 2.5cm strips then cut 2 x 7cm pieces & 2 x 11.3cm pieces. I adhered them with liquid glue to allow me some wriggle room when piecing them together. The centre is filled with another piece of scrap DSP to form a matte for the Very Vanilla & Misty Moonlight sentiment. The urns are DSP & Very Vanilla stamped with Saddle Brown Stazon. I added some plant pieces diecut in Very Vanilla & Pecan Pie & once they were all added with glue & dimensionals the card was complete!
I love the earthy tones to this card with just a pop of the blues & greens. Stampin' Up® chose Misty Moonlight & Pretty Peacock to team with the earth tones & I think they work beautifully together.
This is such an easy layout for a card & can be created either landscape or portrait style using any type of DSP you have on hand. The size of the border strips can also be changed if you prefer more pieces of patchwork, really, it's up to you how you create it.
I hope you can join me for both of them. Til next time, take care & keep creating!
XX Alison
