Hooray for Surprises is more than just surprises.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

I do love a surprise & I love giving gifts or cards with a surprise too. That's where this week's featured stamp set & die is perfect for occasions when you want something a little different but it also has every day uses too. I have a card with a surprise lift up tab plus a small treat holder without any surprise features.

I really love the surprise features of the bundle but chose to only create the one surprise card this time. There's more to the stamps & dies than just the surprise component so I decided to make a quick & easy treat box using the gorgeous big heart die. But first of all, lets start with the surprise card...

Looks like a regular card right? Well it is, but if you look closely you'll see there's a partial diecut circle & a cute little instruction to 'pull'.
If you were to 'pull as instructed then you'd find underneath a little message as shown below.

It was a little tricky working out how to show the surprise element of this card as once you've pulled the tab the creation can't be put back together, and I want to be able to give this card to someone. So I simply photographed the creating part of the process.
Here's a closeup to show the tiny pieces left when you diecut. These 4 little pieces of cardstock are all that holds the tab in place. But they're enough.

So a couple of quick instructions on the materials used and the process of creating the card...

I used a Basic White card base with a slightly smaller matte that I embossed with one of the Basic 3D embossing folders to give a little texture to the front.

I chose a Fresh Freesia matte for a little pop of colour.

The surprise was created with 2 pieces of Basic white. One has 'Make a Wish' & a cute little candle stamped in the centre using Berry Burst, Parakeet Party & Daffodil Delight. The second one has a birthday cake & some flowers stamped in Fresh Freesia & Berry Burst, coloured with Light Rich Razzleberry blends.
The two layers are adhered together only in the areas around the outside of the diecut.
I adhered a couple of Parakeet Party leaves punched with the Hooray for Surprises dies then added another cake with dimensionals, a flower with a glue dot & extra leaves with dimensionals so that there was a real 3D effect to the finish. I popped a few Adhesive Backed Solid gems to the flower centres & a Lemon Lime Twist bow and it was finished.

For the treat box I used some Sunny Days DSP, Shaded Spruce cardstock & Real Red ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap ribbon combo pack. The sentiment is heat embossed.

I made the box big enough to hold a mini chocolate bar & some chocolate wafers all wrapped in a cellophane bag.

Super cute. 😍

Now there is loads more you can use this bundle for but those will be for another blog. I hope you've enjoyed a little taster of what you can do with this bundle. I will share the 'zip' feature of this bundle another day.

Now I'd like to share a little bit of information about how to purchase any of Stampin' Up®s beautiful products.

Stampin' Up® has a number of ways to purchase their lovely products. You can look through their physical catalogue or browse through the Annual catalogue online  but there are also some products that are only available exclusively online that don't appear in any catalogues. These products are called the Online Exclusives & are only online. Check out the online exclusives in my online store. Stampin' Up® adds more product items to the online shop so don't forget to keep checking the store to see what's new. There are some lovely new products now available including kits, embellishments, stamps, dies & embossing folders. Something for everyone! If you would like a copy of the catalogue please send me a message at craftedbyalison@gmail.com or on my Facebook page, craftedbyalison.

NEWS & REMINDERS:

There's only a few more weeks left before it retires, along with some of the products in it. If you would like one then send me a message at craftedbyalison on Facebook or email me at craftedbyalison@gmail.com & I'll send you one.
  2. Don't forget the Online Exclusive products with new products added and available now Check out my online shop here
  3. Stampin' Up® have a great range of Kits including crafting, card making & gift giving. Click here to check them all out in my online shop. As Stampin' Up® have so many beautiful kits available I will be featuring a different kit in each blog so that you can see the range.
This week's kit is a pretty kit called Your Day To Shine. It's a pre-cut kit that requires no stamping. Everything is included in the kit to make 9 cards.

If you think you need this kit in your craft room, then here is a link to my shop.

A lot of demonstrators use the special Host Code for their customers but I'm trying it this year as a new idea to see if this is what you, my customers would like to use. If you shop with me then don't forget to use this month's host code FPEXGVDF. This will allow me to pass on any hostess benefits to customers when the sales reach the required qualifying amount.

This weekend Stampin' Up® held demonstrator only events around the world to launch the new Annual catalogue with new colours & products. This is available earlier for demonstrators than for customers so that we can create samples to share with you before the catalogue is launched. I wasn't able to attend the event but I've seen loads of posts from those who did & I'm excited for when I receive my copy! I will be sharing more news about the release of the catalogue & what's inside it in coming blogs.

Lastly, there have been lots of new items added to the clearance rack so make sure you check them out using the link above to my online store.

If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.

If you would like me to send you a copy of the current Annual catalogue or the new one when it's released then please message me via my FaceBook page, Crafted by Alison or send me an email at craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

My next blog is on Wednesday & I am CASEing some cards from the mini catalogue. This is always a lot of fun. In Sunday's blog I will feature some different creations made with the same stamp set used in the CASEd cards. I hope you can join me for both of them.

Well, that's it for another week. I hope you enjoyed this post & come back for more next week. Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison.
