Creating with Planted Paradise

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

This week I have created some more lovely cards using the Planted Paradise stamp set. I featured 2 cards in Wednesday's blog that were CASE'd from the catalogue but today's cards are my own designs. I had a great time creating with this stamp set, I even made a fun fold as a treat. I hope you like what I've made.

Here is my first card...

I've used earthy tones a lot with this stamp set so decided to go with some brighter colours. I chose Starry Sky, Granny Apple Green & Lemon Lolly & love the combination. I stamped a pot in Starry Sky & some foliage in Granny Apple Green then fussy cut them all out. The DSP is from the Bright & Beautiful 6x6 pack & I chose the yellow stripes because it reminded me a little of wallpaper & my idea was to have the pot sitting on a shelf. To create this effect I diecut a shape for my 'mirror' in Soft Suede using the Tasteful Labels dies then cut a piece of Vellum that had Adhesive sheets behind it to go over the top to create the illusion of a mirror. The 'ledge' was created using a strip of Natural Touch Specialty paper. This was then mounted using dimensionals.
The front sentiment is from the new Happy Little Things dies, stamped in Starry Sky & matted with the same colour. To add a little height I used the Adhesive Strip dimensionals then finished the card with some 2022-24 In Colour Pearls.

To compete the inside I create a small 3.5cm x 15cm strip, scored to make a box then adhered it to the inside of the card before attaching the sentiment. As I wanted a bit more WOW I stamped the outline in Poppy Parade, the inside in Starry Sky & then added some stars in Granny Apple Green. Done.

Now for the pop up card.
I started with a regular 21 x 14.85cm card base in Soft Suede.
This was scored in half then the front was cut at 4.95cm & 9.9cm, only up to the centre scoreline of the card. This gives you the three strips.

With the card diagonally in the cutting device I then scored from the right side of each strip to the centre of the card as you can see in the previous photos. The cutting & scoring devise is great for this as the ruler is clear & there is a gap that you can use to make sure the cardstock is lined up where you want it.
I repeated it with each strip then burnished each of the folds. This will give you 3 peaks as shown below.

Next, you need some DSP to decorate each of the strips. I chose the Most Adored DSP with gorgeous gold lattice design.

These were cut at 4.45 x 10.1cm then diagonally cut the same way I scored the strips then adhered to the card.

The plants were stamped in Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive & Mossy Meadow then fussy cut. The pots are Copper Clay, Pecan Pie & Crumb Cake. The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Hellos stamp set & is stamped in Soft Suede then matted with Soft Suede before being mounted with dimensionals.

I love this design as it's something a little different & allows you to showcase a number of features without detracting from any of them.

Now I'd like to share a little bit of information about how to purchase any of Stampin' Up®s beautiful products.

A lot of demonstrators use the special Host Code for their customers but I'm trying it this year as a new idea to see if this is what you, my customers would like to use. If you shop with me then don't forget to use this month's host code FPEXGVDF. This will allow me to pass on any hostess benefits to customers when the sales reach the required qualifying amount.

This weekend Stampin' Up® held demonstrator only events around the world to launch the new Annual catalogue with new colours & products. This is available earlier for demonstrators than for customers so that we can create samples to share with you before the catalogue is launched. I wasn't able to attend the event but I've seen loads of posts from those who did & I'm excited for when I receive my copy! I will be sharing more news about the release of the catalogue & what's inside it in coming blogs.

Lastly, there have been lots of new items added to the clearance rack so make sure you check them out using the link above to my online store.

If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.

My next blog is on Wednesday & I will be sharing a Card sketch with you. Sketches are really useful to have in your arsenal as you can vary the DSP, colours or direction of the sketch & you have a vast variety of cards. Sketches are always a lot of fun. In Sunday's blog I share a lovely, fun stamp & die set that, for me, just screams summer. I hope you can join me for both of them.

Well, that's it for another week. I hope you enjoyed this post & come back for more next week. Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison.
