Timeless Arrangements helps you create beautiful cards

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

This week I created with a 'new to me' stamp & die bundle called Timeless Arrangements. This stamp set has loads of sentiments, a few small floral arrangements & some background effects stamps. The most exciting part of this bundle for me was the dies that co-ordinate with the stamps. They allow you to diecut frames for your sentiments, most of them having floral sprigs or leaves as part of the die so it saves you cutting out some of the background embellishments. Just a word of warning though, the dies are continuing in the new catalogue but the stamp set is retiring so if you love it, get it quick before it's gone.

I hope you enjoy my creations.

They're both very different form each other which makes this bundle very versatile. Here's what I used & how I made them...

Firstly, I wanted to add to my Thank You card stash as I was getting a little low. I decided to create a split focus card with a few different techniques & textures.

I started with a Pebbled Path card base & added a matte that had been embossed with the Brick & Mortar folder. I added a strip of DSP from the Softly Stippled pack then diecut flowers & leaves in Calypso Coral, Pebbled Path & Coastal Cabana. The Coastal Cabana sprigs at the bottom of the sentiment are actually diecut with a small strip as part of it which means you can adhere it easily & directly to a sentiment box.

Now I have a confession to make. While I was creating a different card for my daughter's friend this card fell onto an inkpad & it left a bright green streak on the DSP. I had to do some quick thinking as to how I could save the card & decided to diecut a couple more sprigs & adhered them over the area along with a Calypso Coral double bow. If you look closely in person you can just see some small areas that didn't quite get covered but I think I noticed it because I knew it was there. Just another reminder to me to make sure all of my work area is tidy while crafting! This is also a reminder that mistakes can most times be fixed with a little bit of creativity.

The second card I made is a little bit different. I stamped, coloured & diecut some flowers whilst at a cardmaking day with friends & when I got home I decided the flowers would look lovely with a grassy meadow backdrop. My first thought was to rip some DSP or carstock & layer them behind it but when I looked for the DSP I found that in the Masterfully Made pack they'd already done the work for me! All I had to do was fussy cut along the lines & I had a scene with dimension to it. My next thought was to have the flowers scattered around the grassy area & have an meadow scene. To achieve this I blended some Tahitian Tide ink on Basic White cardstock. So that the flowers could be 'scattered' amongst the grassy layers I adhered a few behind the DSP then carefully cut 2 small slits along the lines of the pattern & gently poked some flowers through. I made sure that I added tape behind them to secure them & then added the DSP to the cardstock. This was matted with some Calypso Coral to highlight one of the flower colours. To finish the card I stamped the sentiment from Filled With Fun in Basic Grey to match the outline of the flowers then added some brass Adhesive Backed Dragonflies & Birds.

Two very quick & easy cards that are totally different but from the same bundle. I love when you can use a stamp set or dies like this, it gives you so much more use & versatility.
