Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Sometimes a stamped image is so pretty that you want to highlight it. That's where a simple technique called Spotlight comes in. Today I will show you how to create a card that focusses on a small area of a stamped image. I hope you like it.
To achieve this result I selected all of my materials first...
. Lovely & Sweet stamp set
. Deckled Rectangles dies
. Gray Ganite cardstock
. Brushed Metallic specialty cardstock
. Symbols of Fortune specialty DSP
. Smoky Slate ink
. Dark & Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends
. Dark & Light Polished Pink Stampin' Blends
. SU500 Stampin' Blend
. Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write marker
After stamping the image onto Basic White cardstock, the next step was to position dies on both the cardstock & metallic cardstock & diecut both pieces out.
Colouring with the blends & markers on the diecut piece was next before adhering it to the metallic matte, the stamped matte & finally to the card & DSP. That's it! Quite an easy technique but it makes the focus of the card pop out.
I really enjoyed this technique & using colours in a different way.
That's it for this week's blog. I hope you enjoyed this fun technique. If you decide to give it a try I would love to see your creations so please feel free to pop over to my facebook page at craftebyalison & share your pics. My next blog is on Sunday & I will be using a card sketch featured in the brand new Annual Catalogue that launched today! Next week's mid week blog will feature the gorgeous Painted Lavender stamps, dies & papers. I hope you can join me for both of them as I think you'll love them!
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
