Midweek blog#128 - S.I.P - clean & simple cards using Stamp, Ink, Paper.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

This week I have created some beautiful cards using only Stamps, Ink & Paper or more accurately, cardstock. This method is called S.I.P for obvious reasons & is a great way for beginner crafters to create with limited supplies. It's also a very quick & easy way to create when you have limited time.

Here are my two cards ...

I'm so happy with how they turned out & it only took a few simple supplies to achieve this result.

To begin with I chose Azure Afternoon & Parakeet Party for one card adding in Blueberry Bushel & Night of Navy for contrasting colours & Blackberry Bliss & Shaded Shamrock for the second with Petunia Pop as the contrast. The stamp sets I chose are Painted Lavender & Perennial Postage. There are also 2 mattes of Basic White - one for the front of the card & one for the inside.

Using a 2.5cm strip of Post-It note I angled it across the Basic White matte ready for stamping. This gave me the guide of where I wanted the images to stop.

I stamped some flowers in Azure Afternoon & Blueberry Bushel, adding foliage in Parakeet Party directly over the flowers. Before taking off the Post-It note strip I used a ruler & a Stampin' Write marker to add some Blueberry Bushel lines to create an area for the sentiment which I stamped in Night of Navy. I added some butterflies in both colours plus a few 2022 - 24 In Colour Pearls to complete the front of the card. I then assembled the layers & added an insert with matching images.

I repeated the same process for the second card, using a different floral stamp, Petunia Pop, Blackberry Bliss & Shy Shamrock inks & placing the Post-It note strip across the card this time. The embellishments this time Adhesive Backed Pearl trio.

As I loved the colours so much & always add a little something to my envelopes, I repeated some stamping on Basic White envelopes for a dramatic finish. The recipients will hopefully be delighted to receive such a pretty envelope & card.

As I said, a very simple method of creating but the results can be amazing.

That's all I have for you this week. I hope you enjoyed learning this simple way to create beautiful cards & it inspires you to create some yourself.
My next blog is on Sunday & features some more creations made with the Country Flowers images featured in my August 14th 2024 Midweek blog.
Next week's Midweek blog will feature a card sketch. Card sketches are great for inspiration & I use them a lot as they save time but get those creative juices flowing!
I hope you can join me for both of these blogs.
Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
