Midweek blog#129 - Card Sketch #11

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

This week I am sharing another card sketch with you. I love using card sketches as they spark creativity but one sketch can give an entirely different finish depending on the materials used & the orientation of the card. I hope you enjoy my creation.

Below is the sketch I created. It's a basic card base with a strip across the bottom, 2 squares - one of the angled & a circle.

This sketch is a simple one that can be created quickly with supplies on hand or can be added to with more elaborate supplies to create a little more WOW.
I used a Basic White base & cut a 10.5cm x 14.85cm Full of Life DSP matte. The squares & circle were diecut with the Stylish Shapes dies from Starry Sky & Berry Burst cardstock as well as the reverse side of the same DSP as the front. The sentiment on the circle has been heat embossed in white.
Once I'd diecut the shapes I decided to add some sparkle with balloons from the Beautiful Balloons stamps & dies. Two are sparkly cardstock from the Three Colour Glimmer pack in a pretty Highland Heather tone while the smaller one is Petunia Pop. This was heat embossed with silver. Some white twine was attached to each one.
That wasn't enough bling for me so I heat embossed the squares - one in silver, one in white.
The next step was to start to assemble all the pieces onto the card.
I cut a small strip of Basic White to attach some Iridescent Striped Trim to for the bottom of the cardfront. Once that was adhered to the DSP & then to the card base I placed the squares & circle.
The balloons were added next with glue dots & dimensionals & that was the card finished!
I love how bright & sparkly this card turned out.
This sketch could also be made in a landscape orientation but I liked it in portrait.

So that's it for another midweek blog. I hope you enjoyed this sketch & will try it, or another one, yourself. If you do, then I'd love to see your creations so please feel free to pop a pic on my facebook page at CraftedbyAlison.
My next blog is on Sunday where I will be sharing some cards made with the Country Birdhouse stamps & dies which are the sister stamps & dies to the Country Flowers set I've recently shared.
My midweek blog next week has a new funfold called a Puzzle Slider.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Until next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
