Midweek blog #140 - Rustic Christmas kit alternatives Pt2

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

If you've visited my blog before, one of the things that you may know about me is that I love to create with Stampin' Up® kits. Last week I shared with you 4 cards that I had made using an advent calendar kit, Rustic Christmas, & today I will share more creations made with the kit.

These cards were made with supplies I had on hand in addition to some of the remainder of the kit supplies. I added Greetings of the Season, Christmas Labels & Christmas Banners stamp sets (retired), Christmas Labels dies & Snowflake Sky & Timber embossing folders.

I added Gold Dipped cards & envelopes, Kraft Notecards & envelopes (retired), Kraft paper (retired), Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive cardstock, Gold twine, Regal Foiled adhesive backed dots, Iridescent Faceted gems, Woven Golden Leaves & Festive Pearls (retired). I used the numbers that would have been placed on the envelopes as background mattes for the ephemera.

The first card has a bow from the kit placed across the number 1 on the wooden log. The sentiment is from Greetings of the Season. Embellishments are Iridescent Faceted gems.

The second card has a strip of Old Olive added with a gold heat embossed sentiment from Greetings of the Season plus some Regal Foiled gems.

I created a base from Cherry Cobbler cardstock, adding one of the envelopes with the sentiment from Christmas Labels stamped directly onto it. I added some holly leaves from Christmas Banners to the base in Cherry Cobbler. The holly leaves were added over a gold number & there are some Regal Foiled gems & gold twine added. The final touch was some Wink of Stella all over the card! I started with the holly berries then added a little to the envelope & got carried away until the leaves on the base were also be-sparkled! It looks very pretty in person. 😁

The final creation is a notecard made with a Kraft Notecard. I added a piece of Basic White that had been embossed with the Snowflake Sky embossing folder. A wreath & Poinsettia flower were added along with some Gold Woven leaves. The sentiment, from Christmas Labels, is stamped with Pebbled Path then blended with Early Espresso before being diecut with the Christmas Labels dies. The last touch were some gold Christmas Pearls.

Kits are very versatile so I've loved sharing these ideas with you. I hope you've enjoyed them too.

That's all I have for you today. I'll be back on Sunday with some home-stamped DSP to use on cards or for projects.

In next week's mid week blog I will show you how to create your own gift tags - just in time for Christmas preparations but handy for presents at any time of the year.

Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you've enjoyed it & will come back again.

Til next time, take care & keep creating!

XX Alison
