More creations from the Storybook Friends bundle

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

Stampin' Up® 's Annual Catalogue was released last year with a very different format & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. I explored this in a bit more detail in my 1/1/25 mid week blog. The new mini catalogue was launched on January 7th with lots of lovely stamps, dies & papers to ooh & aah over. If you would like a copy of this new catalogue then please contact me at craftedbyalison@gmail.com. Stampin' Up® also have products available only online. These are called Online exclusives & have no end date, when the stock is sold out, that's the end of it.

In previous blogs I have shared some creations made with one of my favourite stamp sets, Storybook Friends. It's a new stamp & die set from the Jan - Apr '25 Mini catalogue that has lots of cute, whimsical characters & is part of the Storybook Moments suite. This suite has DSP, embellishments & another stamp & die bundle called Storybook Garden. I have used all of these products a few times but looove the images so much that I wanted to have another play around with them.

To that end, I have created a set of baby cards using the same basic materials but mixed the up with different colours & folds. I hope you like them.

As you can see, there are 3 cards to this set - 1 for a baby girl, 1 for a baby boy & 1 that could be used for either or if you don't know the gender.

I'll start with the neutral card first.

The base is Lost Lagoon & I chose Basic Beige as the contrast cardstock along with some Timeless Plaid DSP. I embossed the Basic Beige with the new Starstruck embossing folder that is one of the free items during Sale-a-bration. I'll talk about Sale-a-bration a little later in this post.

I then stamped a bunny & a house in Pebbled Path on some Basic White. These were then coloured in with Flirty Flamingo, Ivory, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Seaside Spray & SU500, 700 & 900 blends as well as Old Olive Stampin' Write marker. The background was created with Sponge Daubers, Granny Apple Green & Balmy Blue inks.

Once finished I diecut the image using one of the frame dies from the Storybook Friends dies plus a frame in Lost Lagoon. When you diecut with the dies you get 2 pieces, the inside shape & the outer frame. I swapped out the Lost Lagoon inner & the Basic White frame to create the final result.

Before adding it to the card I wrapped some Lost Lagoon bordered ribbon around the join of the front matte & adhered it to the card. The frame was adhered with glue dots.

The sentiment was stamped in Lost Lagoon on Basic White & diecut with a frame from Christmas Labels dies. A Lost Lagoon frame was also diecut & I snipped the inside from it. The two pieces were then adhered together & raised on dimensionals.

The final step was to add some Antique Pearls embellishments. Here's a close up of the embossing & front details...

Next up is the baby girl card.

The base is Blushing Bride which co-ordinates beautifully with the DSP.  It is scored in half then half again to create a small concertina fold. I then chose Merry Merlot as the contrast. I diecut a large heart using the Hearts of Elegance dies & a strip to dovetail for behind the sentiment.

A contrast heart was added in Blushing Bride for the girl bunny to sit on. She was stamped in Smoky Slate then coloured with Lemon Lolly, Ivory & SU600, 900 & 1000 blends, diecut & mounted with dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Cherry Cobbler & embossed with Clear Embossing Powder to give it a pop of gloss then diecut with a frame from the Cake Celebrations dies.

The next step was to adhere this all to part of the front, just the left side of the heart & sentiment. Once this was in place I could add a Basic White heart to the inside of the card.

To ensure that it aligned perfectly I used a small strip of Tear 'n' Tape which had had a lot of the stickiness removed by rubbing it on my forehead (weird I know but it takes a lot of the tackiness off easily). I used it on the right side of the heart & adhered a Basic White heart to it, adding liquid glue to the bottom of the white heart & adhering it to the base by closing the front of the card. The temporary tape was then carefully removed & the white heart is hidden when the card is closed.

The last step was to add some retired Heart Pearls & the card was done.

And so to the final card - a baby boy card.

For the final card I created a Dutch gatefold card by making a regular base in Boho Blue & cutting out a section of the front.

The image is stamped in Pebbled Path on Basic White & coloured with Copper Clay, Pebbled Path, Crumb Cake, Ivory, Flirty Flamingo, Seaside Spray & Old Olive blends plus Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive & Parakeet Party Stampin' Write markers. The sky & grass were created freestyle.

I used the same technique as previously mentioned to create this frame with Blueberry Bushel. I used the retired Framed Florets dies to create a larger Boho Blue frame with a check insert that the framed image is attached to with dimensionals.

The frame is adhered with liquid glue to the lower half of the card front & the sentiment is stamped in Blueberry Bushel with clear embossing powder for some gloss.

Some of the diecut hearts were scattered on the front with some Wink of Stella on and around them to highlight their placement.

To decorate the inside I stamped a complimentary image & hand coloured it plus added a strip of the DSP to the inside of the front.

So that's the last of the cards from this set. I really enjoyed playing around with these cute images, it was lots of fun but that's all I have for you.
