Mid Week Blog #154 - Creating with a Card Sketch - #12

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Using Card Sketches is a great way to inspire your creativity, produce mass cards or just for a simple session of mindful creativity. Over previous posts I have shared 11 other card sketches of my own plus 4 that can be found in Stampin' Up® catalogues.

Here is the latest card sketch that I have created with 2 different variations...

They are both based on the following portrait orientation sketch...

There is a regular card base plus 2 vertical strips measuring 3cm x 10.5cm and 1 horizontal strip measuring 2.5cm x 7cm. Here is the first card...

A simple Basic White base has 2 strips of Bloom Impressions DSP - one of the free products available for 2 more days during Sale-a-bration with qualifying purchases - trimmed to fit the 3cm x 10.5cm Melon Mambo panels.
The sentiment from Hearts of Elegance is stamped in Blackberry Bliss & heat embossed with clear powder then fussy cut & backed with Shy Shamrock.
This is then raised on dimensionals.
The final touch are a few 2024-26 In Colour Shimmer gems.
A nice & easy, pretty card.

The second card starts with a similar design but the crafting difficulty has gone from super simple to an intermediate level.

It starts with a Basic White base like the first card but I added a matte of Pebbled Path. This was embossed with one of the Basics 3D embossing folders.
I added 2 strips of Toadstool Gardens DSP then stamped some mushrooms from the Terrific Toadstools using Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze & Sweet Sorbet. The stems are stamped in Crumb Cake & Basic Beige plus one is reverse stamped in Early Espresso. What is this you ask? It's when you stamp the image on a window sheet then press the cardstock onto the inked image. As the colour is not as strong as a fully stamped image I added some more ink with a water painter.
One mushroom is adhered directly onto the card but the other two were raised on dimensionals.
The sentiment from Terrific Toadstools is stamped in Pebbled Path on Basic Beige. I also added a cute little Sweet Sorbet beetle but added the dots myself with a Black Stampin' Write marker.
Some more dimensionals meant that it could pop over the bases of the mushrooms.
The bling this time is the stunning Drusy Adhesive Backed embellishments. Drusy is a crystal mineral gem that is mined in some countries & found inside or on the top of other gemstones such as quartz, garnet or turquoise. These little embellishments are so pretty.

So that's it for the cards created with the latest card sketch. I love using card sketches as they allow you to create in so many different ways just by tweaking a little bit here or there. I hope you've enjoyed this post & maybe even consider creating with this or other sketches I have featured. If you do, please feel free to pop over to my Facebook page at craftedbyalison & post a pic.

My next post is on Sunday & I will be showcasing a gorgeous new stamp & die bundle perfect for the little humans in your life called Darling Dinos.
My next mid week blog is next Wednesday & features a funfold, another one of my favourite ways to create. I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
