Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Today I am CASE'ing some cards from the January - April '25 Mini catalogue.
CASE'ing is an acronym for Copy And Share Everything, that is used when you see something you really like & want to recreate it but pay homage to where you got the inspiration from.
My recreations are based on two cards made with the Birthday Treats Mix & Match Ephemera pack & feature on pages 10 & 11 of the mini catalogue. I used the cards for inspiration as I don't have some of the Ephemera packs that were used in the originals but liked the way they had been created.
Here are my takes on the originals...
Both of these cards took only a few minutes to make as all of the stamping & colouring is already done in the Ephemera packs. I have changed them just a little to 'make them my own' & also because I don't have all of the Ephemera packs that were used in the originals.
The first card has only been changed to include some Crumb Cake blending behind the pink lattice frame. A super quick & easy card which is now in my stash.
The second card has been changed a little as the original uses Ephemera packs that I don't have yet.
Here is a sneaky shot of the original from the catalogue...
I kept the cake & used a frame to place it on as well as the lattice featured on the original then added it to a Basic White base that has a blended & masked pattern to mimic the original. If you look closely you can see a fainter pattern on the SU card. I also decided to colour in the candles on the top of the cake in pastel colours.
The final difference is the sentiment. I added a 'Happy Birthday' with a little bit of blending over it.
So that's it for the CASE. As you can see, CASE'ing uses an original idea to create either an exact copy or as inspiration to create something that you can 'make your own'. It's a great way to create & sometimes when you're in a crafting funk, it's perfect to kickstart your crafting again.
My next blog is on Sunday & features the whimsical Terrific Toadstools stamps & punch.
Next week's mid week blog looks at a technique called Fault Line.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating.
