Mid week blog#163 - Stampin' Up® sketch number 5

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today I have a card sketch to inspire you! In each of the Stampin' Up® catalogues there are a number of card sketches included to help you create. The sketch I have for you today comes from the January - April Mini catalogue. It's a simple design that I used to create this card...

and now here is the sketch from the catalogue...

The sketch has only 3 main elements so with that as the basis I used a Basic Beige card base, adding a matte of Woven Textures DSP. The oval is a different pattern from the same DSP pack. The inside has some of the new In Colour - Timid Tiger blended on with a brush. Over this I stamped an image in Early Espresso from the Textured Notes stamp set.

The long strip is Early Espresso cardstock & the hexagon is also Basic Beige with a sentiment from Go To Greetings stamped in Early Espresso. It was diecut with the retired Stitched Nested Labels dies.

I didn't feel that the card needed anything else so I didn't add any embellishments. This is one of the easiest cards I've made & will make a perfect male card for my stash.

So that's all I have for you this week. My next blog is on Sunday where I will share some alternative cards I have created with the leftovers from the Maritime Moments kit that I featured in last Sunday's blog

Next week's mid week blog features a blending technique that I learnt whilst attending an online card event a few weeks ago.

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep crafting! XX Alison
