Mid week blog #167 - Spotlighting the Wildflower Birthday Designer Series Paper

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

This week has been a little crazy as my daughter is getting married on Friday!!!

We're all very excited as this has been anticipated for the last 2 years & now it's finally here. We've all been busy doing the little last minute jobs, paying bills, organising food to munch on while the bride & maids get ready, checking appointment times & from tomorrow all of my appointments start so I've had to work in advance to try to stay on top of my posts. 🤞all is done for my Sunday blog but I'll keep you informed as I go.

Now onto this week's midweek blog which looks at the beautiful Wildflower Birthday DSP. It's such pretty paper & the pack also comes with sheets of diecut images to use as well so I've incorporated them into my cards too. Hope you like them!

I'll start with the simplest card first...

For this card I started with a Pretty in Pink card base & added some pink check DSP. The sentiment is from Birthday Celebrations & is stamped in Blueberry Bushel on one of the diecut strips included in the pack. This was backed with another strip & adhered directly to the DSP. The balloons are another diecut & were raised on dimensionals. The last step was to add some bling. I chose some Party Dots, a Neutral Matte Dot that I coloured with the Blueberry Bushel Stampin' Write marker & a gold Brushed Metallic dot from my retired stash. Done.

The second card was slightly more involved.

On a Soft Sea Foam base I added some spotty DSP then used the Birthday Celebrations dies to cut out a Peach Pie tag as well as a floral DSP tag. The 'Happy' is stamped in Timid Tiger & I also added a little bit of blending behind it. The 'birthday' is heat embossed in white on Blueberry Bushel then fussy cut. I added some gold Open Weave trim behind the sentiment tag & raised it on dimensionals. The last step was to add some pink Party Dots.

The final card showcases a lot of different designs from the pack & took the most effort, but still relatively easy...

The base is Basic White with a Blueberry Bushel matte. Attached to that are a variety of strips of DSP to show off the pretty designs. The sentiment is stamped in Timid Tiger with some clear heat embossing powder over it to give it a little shine. This was fussy cut then added to a Blueberry Bushel banner & adhered directly to the card.
The cake is one of the diecuts & is raised on dimensionals. No bling was needed for this one as there is so much going on with the DSP!

This last pic shows the lovely glimmer you get from the foiled areas on the DSP & images.
Such lovely paper. 🥰

So those are my cards for today. Three quick but pretty cards that can be made in under 30 minutes.

My next blog is on Sunday (☝) & I will be sharing some more creations made with the Layers of Beauty stamps, dies & masks.

Next Wednesday I will be sharing a card sketch with you.

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
