Mid Week blog #168 - Creating with card sketches - sketch #13

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

This week I am creating with a simple card sketch. Normally my sketches are portrait orientation but this week I've created one that is landscape. Here is the sketch...

As I mentioned it's a simple sketch, the base, a rectangle & a circle. I stepped it up a little by adding some mattes, embossing folders & switched it up by changing where each element was placed. Here are the finished cards...

The first card is black & white, simple but elegant.
The base is Basic Black, topped with a Basic White matte, embossed with the Plaster Painting folder. The sentiment comes from the Wild Ferns stamps set & is heat embossed in black. I decided to offset the sentiment disk a little. The DSP is Botanical Textures & backed with Basic Black.

The second card uses Early Espresso as the main colour with Lemon Lolly as the contrast. The DSP is the beautiful & delicate Floral Delight. This time I chose the Eyelet embossing folder. The sentiment is from Spotlight on Nature &, again, I offset this on it's matte.

The third card has Pretty Peacock & Petal Pink with the soft foliage of Frames & Flowers DSP. The embossing folder is simply called Fern & the sentiment is also from Wild Ferns but this time the sentiment is placed as per the sketch & is stamped on Smoky Slate.

Now for my final card. I decided to use one of our Christmas papers from a past catalogue that is still available online called Season of Green & Gold. This DSP co-ordinates nicely with Shaded Spruce & Basic Beige so the base is Shaded Spruce & the Basic Beige matte is embossed with the Cane Weave folder. As the DSP has some lovely gold embossing in it I added a Brushed Metallic matte behind the sentiment which comes from Textured Notes.

All of the sentiment circles were diecut with the Stylish Shapes dies & the fourth card has the gold layer diecut with the Everyday Details dies. I haven't added any bling at this stage but will add some before I post them to the girls that were bridesmaids & assisted my daughter when she was married last week.
Here they all are again beside each other.

That's all I have for you in this post. I hope you have enjoyed my walk through this sketch. I certainly enjoyed creating them all.
My next blog will be on Sunday when I will be sharing some lovely creations made with the Textured Notes stamp set.
In next week's mid week blog I will show you the new In Colours that were launched last month.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
