Hello & welcome.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.
For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
This week I look at the fun & cheerful Celebratory Sips DSP & Cheers & Sips stamps & dies. The DSP is stunning with bright, cheerful colours & lots of images relating to summer fun with cocktails & mocktails. Here are two funfolds I created with the DSP as the main focus with some stamping & embossing added.
To start with I created a Z fold with Mossy Meadow & a pretty floral sheet of DSP. To add to this I also stamped a small matte of florals using the stamps, Granny Apple Green, Blackberry Bliss & Berry Burst inks. As the images are outlines & the DSP images are solid, I filled them in with light Old Olive, Melon Mambo & Blackberry Bliss blends & Strawberry Slush & Moody Mauve markers.
The next step was to fussy cut one of the drinks from the paper & diecut a Mossy Meadow frame for it to sit on using the Storybook Friends dies. As I wanted a slightly longer frame than what the die cuts out, I used partial diecutting to extend the length of it. How that works is to place the top plate part way along the cardstock & die so that the area that is not under the plate does not get cut. You then shift the die along until you have the desired length & repeat the placement of the plate. It's a clever trick to help you make a shape larger, or smaller, than what the die would normally create.
Before adhering the frame & image to the folded section of the card front I heat embossed the sentiment in white directly onto the cardstock.
The finishing touch to this card was to blend a few of the tiny fussy cut flowers from the DSP with Starry Sky (retired), Gorgeous Grape & Blackberry Bliss to give them a similar colour to the ones in the DSP & adhere them to the writing matte on the inside of the card. No embellishments were needed as the DSP & stamped matte are both very busy.
For the second card I took inspiration from the Celebratory Sips All Star video class bundle. There are 12 presenters from around the globe & I chose a funfold made by Alison Solven in Canada for inspiration.
The base is Strawberry Slush & scored as a Z fold, the same as my first card but this card is portrait instead of landscape & also has a small Basic White card added to the centre. There is a strip of cute summer drinks themed DSP on the right of the base which sets the theme for the whole card.
The inside card folds to the left so that it partially covers the left panel fold. I decorated it with some fussy cut drinks & stamped a tumbler in Smoky Slate, colouring it with Granny Apple Green, Old Olive & Lemon Lolly blends while the stamped umbrella is coloured with Melon Mambo & Bubble Bath blends. This was adhered directly to the card whilst the fussy cut drinks were raised on dimensionals.
I then heat embossed a sentiment in white on a scrap of Basic Black & applied a little bit of glue to both ends to attach it to the drinks.
For some added detail there is a strip of Strawberry Slush on the left fold that has been embossed with the Glass & Gardens embossing folders.
In the closeup below you can see that I have also heat embossed some ice cubes on the taller drink. I chose clear for a very subtle finish but I think white would look stunning as well.
There is also a small sentiment inside the white card.
The finishing touch was to add some Gold Striped Mesh ribbon along the left folded panel. I wrapped it around the whole card, adding some tape at the back to hold it in place but it could also be left loose.
I loved working with this suite. It's so easy to make fun, bright cards with these papers & In Colours. There will definitely be more coming in the future! But for now, that's if for my creations. Now it's time to share some news & information from Stampin' Up®.
Stampin' Up® 's Annual Catalogue was released last year with a very different format & it was a beauty! It was set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a
step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is
quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is
create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself &
create your way! In the
quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. I explored this in a bit more detail in my
1/1/25 mid week blog & also in
30th April blog. The other cool feature is that they provide card sketch ideas for you. This is great for any times that you need a little inspiration.
If you'd like to browse the new catalogue online then click
here. If you'd like a copy to hold in your hands, leaf through & put little notes all over it of what's on your wish list then shoot me an email at craftedbyalison@gmail.com or message me on my facebook page at craftedbyalison.
The mini catalogue was launched on January 7th and has now retired so there is only the Annual catalogue & the Online Exclusives until the next Mini catalogue is launched in September.
Stampin' Up® also have loads of additional products available only online. These are called Online exclusives & have no end date, when the stock is sold out, that's the end of it.
Stampin' Up® also have a great range of Kits including crafting, card making & gift giving. There were brand new kits added to the collection every month. Click here to check them all out in my online shop. As Stampin' Up® have so many beautiful kits available I feature a different kit in each blog so that you can see the range. This week's featured kit is called Pop Up Pals. It's one of the latest kits & features adorable animals that POP when the cards are opened.
There are four different designs & this kit makes one of each.
Here's how Stampin' Up® describe it...
Make crafting a wild adventure with the Pop-Up Pals Kit! This kit includes everything you need to create four fun pop-up cards—a playful monkey, mighty triceratops, magical unicorn, and cosy napping pets. With pre-cut pieces and simple instructions, young crafters will love bringing creativity to life!
Aren't they adorable?? If you feel that you need to add this to your list then click here to purchase one from my online store.
If you
shop with me then there are some new changes to the rewards program that you should know about. In the past we were able to create a host code & group together individual orders & pass on the 'hostess' benefits to customers with qualifying orders. This has now been replaced with a 'Rewards' program that gives
all customers who place an order with a
qualifying amount a credit of 10% of their order to use on future orders. This will be displayed during the checkout process or your order. Stampin' Up® feel that this is a fairer way of rewarding all customers.
Lastly, there have been lots of great items added to the clearance rack which is now called
Last Chance items so make sure you check them out using
this link to my online store.
If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.
