Mid week blog#190 - Triangle Twist fun fold

Hello & welcome to my blog.

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.

For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

One of my favourite ways of creating cards is to make it into a fun fold. Fun folds come in all sorts of designs & varying levels of difficulty but they can add a little WOW! to a special occasion.

Today's funfold is called a Triangle Twist funfold & I got the idea after watching Patty Bennett make a similar one. She made a 4" x 4" card & I adapted mine to be a 4" x 6" card.

Here's what I created. I hope you like it.

This card was designed to go with a gorgeous embossed gift bag I found in a discount store...

I was tasked with finding a gift bag for my nieces birthday that was large enough to fit a new handbag. Side note: it's both my niece & brother-in-laws birthdays as well as my son's best friend & his girlfriend so November means lots of cards, presents & wrapping & the shopping is shared with my daughter, thankfully!
I loved the bag & decided to match the card to the bag. I looked through all of my past & current stamps, papers & dies & found that the retired Quite Curvy stamps & dies along with the Rings of Love DSP were perfect for this project.

I started with a piece of 12" x 12" Two Tone Crumb Cake cardstock & trimmed it down to 6" x 12" then scored at 4" & 8".
Next I placed the cardstock diagonally in the trimmer with the top right corner & 8" score line along the track & scored.
I then slid the cardstock across & placed the 4" score line & bottom left corner along the track of the trimmer & scored again.
This gives you the main component of the card.
I placed a piece of 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" DSP in the trimmer & cut diagonally from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. These pieces were then adhered to the two diagonal sections for the front of the card.
I wanted to match the bag a little more so added some white heat embossed images from Quite Curvy to the remaining diagonal sections, both inside & behind the DSP sections of the card front.
As the Two Tone cardstock is slightly less weight I added a piece of regular Crumb Cake cardstock to the base of the card for extra stability.
A Basic White Matte with some images stamped in Basic Beige was added inside.
A sentiment from Simply Said was stamped in Pecan Pie on Basic White then diecut with the Traditional Labels dies. This was adhered with dimensionals to a Pecan pie label & adhered to the right section of the card.
I stamped a tiny bird & coloured it with Evening Evergreen, Misty Moonlight & Daffodil Delight blends then diecut it & added it to the label with dimensionals.
The final step was to add Neutral Matte dots & the card was complete!

I'm happy with how the funfold turned out & how well I was able to co-ordinate a card to match the bag. Here are the bag & card together.

That's all I have for you for this post. My next post will be on Sunday where I will be sharing some lovely cards featuring the gorgeous Lovely Garden DSP.

In next week's mid week blog I will be looking at ways you can be creative with your Christmas gift giving.

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
