Mid Week Blog Series #8 - Z fold cards

Hello and welcome to my mid week blog,

These mid week blogs are designed to be shorter than my Sunday blogs so that I can share techniques, card design or other tips and tricks with you. This week I will show you how to create a Z fold card with an overhanging feature flap. Super easy but looks impressive. Here are some previous cards I've made with this fold to give you an idea.

This gorgeous greenery card has a thin strip folded back from the card front with a panel centred on it. The panel was measured to be wide enough for some stamped images & a sentiment and overlapped the folded panel just enough so that it is no wider than the width of a basic card. When folded flat it is the same size as a standard card front.

The orientation of this card & scoring the card front in half before folding back, allows for a larger panel to be adhered & adorned more elaborately. There are two layers of matting for a more dramatic combination of colours overall on the card. There was also more room for a sentiment and embellishments.

The final example is similar to the first card but oriented in a portrait position. The card front is scored & folded in half, similar to the second card & allows for the panel to be no wider than a standard card front. This time the panel is not matted. When folded the DSP on the front & inside of the card align.

As you can see, the layout is similar in each card but the details can make a big difference to how simple or elaborate the finished card is.

If you would like any further details on how to make any of these cards, please contact me via my Facebook page Crafted by Alison.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you found this useful. Please stop by again next week when I will be playing around with different types of embossing. Have a great week & I hope to see you soon.
