In heaven with Hydrangea Haven

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog features one of my favourite stamp sets, Hydrangea Haven. I've used different stamps on each card to show you the versatility of the stamp set. There are 3 completely different styles of cards, one uses DSP, ribbons & diecuts, another is stamped on die cuts & the third is DSP & stamping. I hope you like them all!

I love the colours of this first card as it takes me back to my childhood home where Mum & Dad had a hedge of blue, purple & pink hydrangeas near the front door. That's where I went to with this card. On a Basic White base I added a matte of Gorgeous Grape, a panel of Hydrangea Hill DSP & wrapped around a piece of Fresh Freesia glitter Grosgrain ribbon. I diecut a frame using the Scalloped Contour dies for the front then stamped the hydrangea using Memento Tuxedo black, Fresh Freesia, Garden Green & Mossy Meadow inks. The bloom was then diecut using the Hydrangea dies. I adhered the bloom to the frame, allowing it to hang over the top & bottom just a little bit. I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape & diecut it using the super cute tag from the Hydrangea dies. A little bit of the new Orchid Oasis metallic woven ribbon tied into a bow & attached to the tag and the card front was finished.

For the inside I used a Gorgeous Grape, Scalloped Contours frame, included a white matte & cut a small piece of scrap DSP for the corner.

For the next card I chose the bright & cheery Sweet Sorbet as my base & stamped some little blossoms directly onto the front with the same colour ink. I diecut 3 different sized circles from the Layering Circles die set & stamped bunches of blooms, leaves & single flowers randomly on them using Sweet Sorbet & Parakeet Party, leaving space for the sentiments. I diecut & fussy cut some extra leaves & blossoms & adhered with glue dots & dimensionals.

The final card is very different. In the stamp set there is a 'splotch' image that I had never used before so I thought this was a good opportunity to give it a go. I used a piece of the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP that was a free Sale-a-bration item earlier this year as a matte to a Basic White card base. I used Polished Pink, Granny Apple Green & Orchid Oasis with the splotch stamp & stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black across the centre of the card. I was going to matte it with black card but found a scrap that had been embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder so cut it in half & placed it at the top & bottom of the stamped image instead. To tie in the black & add a point of interest, I finished the card with some Matte Black dots. Clean, simple & can be used for a number of occasions & is easily used for either gender.

I would love to see any creations you might have made using this stamp set so please feel free to pop over to my FaceBook page, craftedbyalison, & post a pic.

That's it for this week. Thanks for popping in. My next Mid Week blog on Wednesday shows you how to use a scoreboard or scoring tool to create some different detail to cards. Next week's regular blog features the brand new Colour & Contour stamp set. I hope you can join me for both of those.
