Showcasing the wonderful new Splendid Thoughts stamp set.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about making a simple card or adding to it to create something a little bit more special. I hope you like what I've made!

This week I've made some lovely cards using the new Splendid Thoughts stamp set, Splendid dies & Splendid Day DSP. There's quite a few things to share with you today as I joined in an event called Creativity Now that Stampin' Up® held last month & we made 4 gorgeous cards plus I made another one thanks to Nancy Stollnitz Hoetker from Nancy's Nifty Notes who holds free online Mystery Stamping events. Here are my creations with brief info about the materials used.....

This is the card that I created with Nancy. On a white card base I added some Soft Sea Foam DSP. 4 strips of co-ordinating DSP were embossed with the Hives embossing folder were added to the front along with some stamped & diecut images & 'bowl'. A cute brass Open Leaf trinket & some embellishments were the final touches.

On a white card base I added a piece of Calypso Coral that had been run through the Bricks & Mortar embossing folder. Another of the 'bowls', this time upturned, was used along with more of the stamped & diecut images & a Soft Sea Foam ribbon bow. Some of the plants were raised on dimensionals & also had some of the cutouts left in place. The sentiment was fussy cut & as the card had lots of interest in it I didn't add any embellishments other than the bow.

For a little bit of a change, this card starts with a Soft Sea Foam base & has DSP & Basic White mattes. On the Basic White I used Soft Sea Foam & Fresh Freesia blending pens to create the washed background. Some diecut greenery, a sentiment & strip of ribbon were all that was needed to finish off the card.

A stamped background on the card base is the beginning of this card. Blushing Bride goes beautifully with the DSP & was used for the base & the stamped images. Some more of the diecut 'bowls' were stacked on each other & the Basic White layer was distressed on the edges for a different finish. Some Soft Sea Foam ribbon was wrapped around this layer prior to mounting on the base. A brass Open Leaf trinket was added along with a stamped sentiment on Soft Sea Foam. The banner die is from the Splendid Stems dies & will become one of my favourite sets I think.

The final card will perhaps help you to understand where all the 'bowls' came from in the previous cards! On a Calypso Coral base I added a Basic White matte. The DSP that the 'bowls' were cut from was kept & used to make the window feature of this card. They were layered over a piece of Soft Sea Foam card that had been embossed with White embossing powder & an image from the stamp set. Some diecuts were added in the background or on top of the windows. Before adhering to the card base some Soft Sea Foam ribbon was wrapped around. Another Open Leaf trinket & heat embossed sentiment finish off the card.

This is such a pretty suite that I'm sure it will be very popular. I love the soft colours but also love that there are strong colours that can be linked into any creations you make. I had so much fun creating these cards this week & I hope you enjoyed checking out my creations. I would love to see any creations you might have made using this stamp set so please feel free to pop over to my FaceBook page, craftedbyalison, & post a pic.
